At its core, a great and fun game. But that was also in 2022, where the feeling that it made sense to not only pay full price for a new game, but to spend a lot of time in it, still prevailed.

"A spreadsheet with soccer players," a friend once called Football Manager. He was right, but it is a damned addictive Excel file: in the meantime, we have invested another fifty hours or so in making our local team virtual champions. If you ask us, Football Manager would be better off switching to a subscription formula, but okay: for about fifty euros you get a whole year of spreadsheet fun.

Sports Interactive never ceases to amaze us with the amount of detail in the Football Manager series, but regardless of the continued quality of the game, some significant improvements are needed to justify the price because this way everything feels like some kind of DLC or Patch.
