Front Mission Evolved ditches the previous entries' turn-based tactical gameplay in favor of third-person action. While a few signature series staples remain, such as a convoluted political storyline and tons of customization options, the fast-paced mech combat makes blowing the crap out of stuff far more accessible and fun.

Helix accomplishes a lot in appealing to Western gamers while still sticking to the themes Front Mission has established through its 15-year history.

Front Mission Evolved combines a good story with solid action. Unfortunately, although there is much to see on the screen it doesn't look really good. It would be more fun to play, if the world in it was a little brighter.

Long time fans might not enjoy the changes and will probably want a return to their roots but every other mech-combat fan should find some enjoyment in it.

These problems aside, there is a genuinely good time to be had with portions of Front Mission Evolved, provided you bring with you a certain love for mechs. It's probably not the high point of the series, but fans of the Front Mission universe and/or giant robots might find something to like here.

Judged as a pure action game, Evolved isn't bad, with its strong customization element letting you blow things up any way you see fit and creating action that satisfies on a basic level. Unfortunately, Square Enix has squandered many of Front Mission's strengths, and the game falls well short of its potential.

Official Xbox Magazine October 20, 2010
Front Mission Evolved doesn't deliver the innovation its name suggests, but it does offer the best classic mech action on 360, and fans of big-bot wars will enjoy it.

Front Mission Evolved is an enjoyable third person action title.

For all its shortcomings, we still quite like Front Mission Evolved, especially as it manages to imbue a feeling of power in the player with its well made shooting mechanics better than many other shooters. While it is unlikely to be remembered for having any particularly remarkable features, it does what it does mostly very well.

If you're a fan of mech combat, and customization, Front Mission Evolved is definitely one you should look into.

Front Mission Evolved is a mad, mad game, but the madness bring more good experiences than bad. While the gameplay is entirely acceptable, it does get kinda monotonous, but the huge arsenal and customization options help make up for it.

As it stands, Front Mission Evolved is a decent entry in the series.

Front Mission: Evolved uses the undeniable charm of giant robots, and offers an interesting action experience. But as an action title fails in some important aspects, and its multiplayer doesn't have enough modes.

TeamXbox October 20, 2010
Overall Front Mission Evolved is an enjoyable entry in to the series that takes on a new direction. Veteran action fans might want to skip this title if they are looking for a story to rope them in.

Front Mission Evolved is competent but average. The good ideas were here but they couldn't translate into the execution.

Xbox Achievements October 22, 2010
Front Mission Evolved does offer some doses of fun, but the campaign is far too short with a story that is patchy at best. More entertainment can be found online, but even at the relatively close proximity to launch, the community is worryingly small. Perhaps a return to the familiar turn- based RPG roots would be for the best based on this fairly average offering.

Square Enix has taken a step back from the usual RPG-themed games and manages to deliver an above average third-person shooter. Especially the graphics and the sound aren't up to today's standards.

While Evolved may not be a game of the year contender and definitely has some faults, it is also probably the most fun I have had in a mech game since the original MechAssault on Xbox.

Front Mission Evolved has potential and fans of big-bot wars will enjoy it, but it feels like a flat experience.

Front Mission Evolved is a standard product, without any particular ideas worthy of note. You can't find nor a very negative aspect of the game, neither any feature that differentiate it.
