It's a perfect time waster that doesn't take much in the way of set-up to get into, and the Kinect functionality is really spot on.

It doesn't just set a high bar for the flock of touch-based apps which will almost certainly follow in its footsteps to the Kinect platform -- it sets a pretty intimidating precedent for the platform altogether.

Fruit Ninja Kinect is a game that many people will instantly enjoy, and the Kinect controls make it much more accessible to those who may be averse to traditional control schemes.

Sensei says: this year's fourth Summer of Arcade title is another gem – particularly if you think of Fruit Ninja Kinect as a party game.

One of the most entertaining Kinect games thanks to the high levels of light hearted and direct fun it's capable to deliver, expecially if played with friends. A great debut for Kinect on Live Arcade.

Halfbrick Studios has a runaway hit on their hands here, as my aching arms will attest to. While having an exuberant amount of fruit slashing fun, you are for sure getting a work out here. Have a care not to overdo, because you just get carried away by the silliness and fruit juice splashing fun.

Fruit Ninja Kinect feels like an Eyetoy game from last gen -- and if you're familiar with Sony's attempt at motion gaming this shouldn't surprise you -- but the level of precision feels much better executed here thanks to the technology.

Its $10 price point may be the only thing that would keep someone from picking up Fruit Ninja Kinect. Even still, it's unquestionably enjoyable, and easily the best version of Halfbrick's popular title.

Fruit Ninja Kinect isn't a remarkably deep or long-lasting experience, but it's a smart adaptation of the mobile hit that delivers intense, albeit short-lived bursts of enjoyment. Plus, it provided me the sorest Kinect-related limbs I've had since the launch.
Worth Playing

Ultimately, Fruit Ninja Kinect is a surprisingly impressive port that plays better than the touch-screen original. If you can't stand the smartphone original, the addition of Kinect controls aren't likely to sway you, but if you are one of the many with Fruit Ninja on your phone, then this is well worth your 800 MSP ($10 USD). The only real reason to hold off is if you're planning on buying The Gunstringer, as Fruit Ninja Kinect is included for free with that game.

It doesn't tie itself down by abiding to unnecessary console conventions. We hop in for a 60-second challenge, fail a few times and crawl to the kitchen for some water, leaving the game behind until we once again feel the irresistible urge to fuck up some fruit.

The simple fingertip swiping motions of Fruit Ninja scale up to a full-body experience with ease, and while some might balk at the price difference between platforms, Kinect owners hungry for something, anything of quality will find plenty of curiously cathartic, fruit-annihilating fun for their $10 here.

Simple enough that anybody can play, incredibly addictive and offers short bursts of fun in both a single and multiplayer capacity, making it perfect for groups of all ages and skill levels. Quite simply, Fruit Ninja Kinect has all of the ingredients of a classic party game.

If you're having fun, does it really matter if you're sitting in your living room or on a bus? It may be that if a game is entertaining then it's doing its job, and Fruit Ninja Kinect gets that job done.

All in all, Kinect Fruit Ninja delivers a lot of fun for $10. It's not a very in-depth experience, but for a game about chopping fruit, how much depth could there really be?

At 800 Microsoft Points, some might turn their nose up at this Kinect-enabled version of the mobile favourite, but Fruit Ninja Kinect genuinely doesn't deserve such quick dismissal.

Despite the high price it's a funny little game to play! You can pick it up any time and play it with a friend, something that wasn't possible in the original Fruit Ninja game.

But considering the speed of your movements, the hardware still does an admirable job of tracking your Ninja gymnastics.

Like all good party games, Fruit Ninja is a bit bland by yourself, but add some friends into the mix and it becomes a goofy good time. You won't spend a lot of time with it when you play, but it'll be a surefire hit at your get-togethers.

With all sorts of fun score challenges, bonus fruits, combo rewards, and that big red fruit at the end of each session where you get to go crazy, Fruit Ninja Kinect is a great way to liven up any party or gaming night. And if you have younger kids; they are going to go Fruit Ninja crazy for this game. It's a bit over-priced, but still a worthy addition to your XBLA collection.
