Gangs of Sherwood is exactly what it needs to be: fun for everyone playing it. It's definitely a game you'll want to play with friends for the best possible experience though, so do keep that in mind if you're more of a single player kind of person. I've been having a blast with it though, and if I can convince some friends to join me, I'd imagine I'll be playing it for a fair bit of time to come.

The gameplay of Gangs of Sherwood unfortunately resembles a constant cycle of a fight for a minute, explore the location, fight for a minute and a half, and so forth. Then players move on to the next one, and then the level is complete. Luckily, the level art is simply stunning which removes some of the monotonous pain. With the possibilities of selecting your own gameplay for the characters, and because there is enough variability in the game, it is a tolerable, if somewhat lackluster game at the moment especially in terms of combat and its attractiveness. Still, however, Gangs of Sherwood is definitely worth your attention or to keep an eye on over time, especially have someone to play with.

The outlaws fighting the Sheriff of Nottingham, even in the modern conception, have failed to make a significant impact and are pulling the short end of the rope. Only time will tell if the game will eventually find enough fans.

A nice game with an interesting world and story that could really use some quality-of-life updates and a price reduction.

There’s an enjoyable time to be had Gangs of Sherwood, especially with others, but it just doesn’t do anything well enough to stand out from the crowd.

Gangs of Sherwood is a passable but thoroughly unremarkable cooperative action game, suffering from a tedious gameplay loop, alleviated only in part by its cinematic quality, boss fights, and visual artistic appeal. Unless you're a diehard Robin Hood folklore enthusiast, it's very difficult to recommend this as a must-buy at any price, let alone its current retail offering.

A very short RPG that is much more fun in co-op than alone.

The foundation and the ideas you have here are absolutely good, but the execution is a little too simple.

Entertaining, but not quite perfect: Gangs of Sherwood has interesting heroes, but bland opposition dulls their potential.

Gangs of Sherwood shows initial promise with its creative setting and colourful combat but runs out of steam well before the end of its already brief running time.

It's a pity, since there is the kernel of an engaging hack-and-slash here, but its best ideas are squandered, and eventually bludgeoned into submission by the relentless monotony of the action. With a campaign that barely stretches beyond six hours and minimal replay value here, there's only one person being robbed here, and it's not the Sheriff.

Gangs of Sherwood left me in a state of disbelief after seeing how easily I could break certain bosses' programming. The challenge falls far short of what you'd expect from a modern action title too, and it isn't helped by the game's voice acting, level design or balance issues. A forgettable take on a famous legend.

By selling Gangs of Sherwood, Nacon is robbing from the gullible and giving to the inept. I’d have worked on a better closing analogy, but this game isn’t bloody worth it.

A deeply flawed attempt to make a cross between Warhammer: Vermintide and an old school scrolling beat ‘em-up, with dumb and repetitive combat that’s never fun even in co-op.
