The bottom line is, Gangstar Vegas is a great open-ended game, with lots of variety and lots to do, and will keep you playing.

The control issues should be easily rectified by an update in the future and the slightly underwhelming story does little to distract from the gleeful destruction and chaos that forms the crux of the title.

The real issue with Gangstar Vegas is that it’s not a ground breaking game and doesn’t offer any new ideas, just higher quantities of things — more missions, extra items to buy and upgrade, and a bigger map.

Gangstar Vegas ($6.99, Universal) isn’t innovative by any means, and feels like a run of the mill entry into the genre. With that said, it’s still plenty entertaining through the lengthy campaign making it worth the premium price of admission.

Featuring a solid physics engine, flashy graphics, and an even larger open-world sandbox than they’ve offered before, Gangstar Vegas certainly looks the part though despite some control quirks.

Gangstar Vegas may not be "Grand," but it’s sure to satisfy your hunger for a good open-world game on your iPhone or iPad.

You can't really blame Gameloft for being unoriginal, but it's hard to accept so many technical downsides and gameplay issues from a game which should be top of his class.

Gangstar Vegas is what it is, and if you like the previous Gangstar games then you’ll probably like this one. But other than a change in setting, there is very little here that takes the series to a new level, and the cons have begun to outweigh the pros.

With its awkward controls, buggy combat, and cardboard characters, Gangstar Vegas is all glitter and no gold.

Gangstar Vegas is a surprisingly unpleasant game that's a bit too broken and a bit too hollow to recommend.
