Although almost every single mechanic in the game feels eerily similar to the Monster Hunter series, God Eater 3 manages to stand on its own (monstrous) two feet thanks to some incredible combat and a surprisingly engaging story.

God Eater 3 does enough to push the franchise forward with new mechanics, improved visuals, and slick animations but is held back a little by annoying camera angles and some poor environments.

God Eater 3 is an enjoyable action RPG that offers both a solid solo and co-op experience, but it doesn't really stand out from the rest of the pack.

It cannot topple Monster Hunter World from the top of the food chain, but if you like your monster hunting and gathering with a hefty dose of post-apocalyptic atmosphere, this definitely is for you.

God Eater 3, the latest entry in the fast-paced hunting action series, offers a fresh location as well as a new set of characters. Most of that is due to complexity; God Eater 3 has tons of combat mechanics, a weird, jargon-filled narrative, and just generally a lot going on at once. However, it also doesn’t have a lot of the same heavy preparation and survival vibe of Monster Hunter, so it’s really more about mastering the action than micro-managing your inventory and outsmarting behemoths.

Frankly, God Eater 3 has left us with quite a bit more positive feelings than we expected it would have. These primarily derive from the interesting evolution that we find in the characters of its history as well as the ability to create the type of fighter we want.

Made both for the fans and new-comers, God Eater 3 is fun and demanding. It offers many hours of play and many subtilities you must master, making it a nice little journey.

The complexity of the game can definitely be a huge barrier to entry, and there’s a repetitiveness that comes with hunting games that might turn you off if that’s not something you enjoy. Still, God Eater 3 functions as a strong, complex JRPG and a good way to test out the series if you’ve been curious this whole time.

A staggering amount of gameplay customisation options, and adrenaline-pumping combat make it easy to forgive and forget some of its few shortcomings.

This new entry in the series improves in many ways from its predecessors, especially in terms of graphics and gameplay but also by offering an interesting plot and characters besides multiplayer content. However, it lacks additional content beyond the main story it's on the short side.

God Eater 3 is still a must for fans of the saga, who after many remastering will finally have something new on which to vent their hunger for divinity.

God Eater 3 is a good hunting game, although not a perfect one. The RPG structure focused on equipment and allies’ growth allows to stage great hunts against giant monsters in a post-apocalyptic world. It is also possible to share everything both on single and online playing. By the way the game maintains its historical flaws such as being repetitive and running with a very raw graphic. Old fans will immediately feel at ease, but newcomers will have to take some time to ponder and get used to the system and narration proposed by the game.

God Eater 3's frenetic anime-style combat and party customization make it a solid take on the Monster Hunter formula, even if its lackluster story and somewhat unvaried content keep it from being the best it could be.

Although God Eater 3 boasts some stellar gameplay mechanics that allow you to play how you'd like, the surrounding aspects keep it back from being otherwise a great game.

Taken on its own terms, though, with God Eater 3 we have a pretty hunting game that moves like lightning and makes its stylish combat feel like something worth mastering. Players willing to adjust their expectations will find plenty to fill up on, but those seeking a novel new taste rather than a bit of comfort food may want to keep looking.
