But Why Tho? April 21, 2023
Easy to pick up and hard to master, God of Rock has to be one of the most engaging games to come out so far this year.

God of Rock’s big idea, to mix fighting game and classic music concepts, is a very good one. I love how it manages to evoke stardom when I hit the notes at just the right time, groove to the music, and watch my favorite fighter pummeling an opponent. It’s easy to understand the mix of mechanics but it’s not easy to master them. The soundtrack is also great, both in terms of quality and variety. The game does need to improve its interface layout to accommodate more players. For anyone looking for innovation in the fighting game genre, God of Rock offers a good mix of mechanics as long as players have a few friends to battle against.

God of Rock comes with a lot of content and highly polished audiovisual concepts. It is an ambitious proposal that suffers from poor execution but is going to keep you entertained no matter what

God of Rock is the unlikely merge between a rhythm and a fighting game and the result is brilliant. The only downside is that the characters really feel a lot similar to each other.

God of Rock is a unique experiment in taking two highly technical genres and mixing them up. Though it’s sometimes an enchanting title, the frustrations can be tremendous as it hardly offers any leeway for newcomers to get into the meat of the game. The game may annoy even those familiar with the genres due to how convoluted this unlikely hotpot ends up, but this is still a unique experience you won’t be able to find anywhere else, and it’s worth a try.

I love the concept of this game and I think it has potential for the future, there are just simply too many areas that all work against each other for God of Rock to be able to stand tall on its own right now.

With a little more polish, God of Rock may prove itself to be a worthwhile rhythm game title yet. Unfortunately, in its current state, it feels like more of a swing and a miss than a headbanging hit.

Hey Poor Player April 18, 2023
God of Rock has some solid ideas with some really cool gameplay elements that will certainly interest the fighting genre fans; however, I fear there wasn’t enough attention given to the rhythm aspect to equally draw the music games crowd. I’d be curious to revisit God of Rock after several rounds of updates to see how it improves over time, but as it stands I don’t think it’s going to be anyone’s favorite game right off the bat. Once God of Rock gains its balance, however, it’s over for us bitches.

Watching your favourite game genres make out sounds exciting, but God of Rock doesn't quite nail it. It leaves a game that feels at odds with itself, sometimes fun to play but mostly frustrating or uninteresting.

I give God of Rock credit for trying to combine rhythm games and fighting games together and while I do think there is potential with the idea unfortunately the execution here isn't as good as it could have been.

God of Rock has flashy, entertaining visuals with a thematic flair. While its style and level editor excel, the rhythm gameplay and fighting mechanics feel shoe-horned together, creating a clunky and messy whole. The music is great and the idea could work, but this isn’t the rock-charged moshpit that it promised to be.

God of Rock has to be one of the worst attempts at combining rhythm games with other genres. While the game has a solid foundation, it really doesn't have much else as it fails as both a rhythm game and its fighting game aspects feel more like an overcomplication of something that already works well in other versus rhythm games.

Unfortunately, its gameplay fails to be fun enough to attract fans of rhythm or fighting games occupied by many other options that do everything better.
