A fast, fluid murderous romp through a comic book style world. Gods Trigger does enough to stand out in this niche genre of top-down twitchy twin-stick shooters.

Some of the more unique levels are a blast to play and the core combat is fun from start to finish. The cooperative focus is also a great bullet point in its favor, and it’s implemented in such a way that the single-player doesn’t feel lessened because of it.

A fun game in the likes of Hotline Miami but with a co-op mode that will shake things up a bit to make it interesting.

When it comes down to it, God's Trigger works very well. Its occasional awkward moments with gameplay are eased by the fun of different powers and a quick checkpoint system, and its cheesy story and tone are infectious in their enthusiasm.

God’s Trigger is an action-packed top-down shooter videogame: the player can choose two different interchangeable characters to stop the imminent apocalypse. It has an extremely fast gameplay, but it’s not a revolution for the genre. The local co-op adds a lot of fun.

Although it is clear that it borrows some things from Hotline Miami, it also adds its fair amount of ideas. If you like this fast-paced gameplay, and you want to enjoy it in coop, make sure to check it out.

While there some tweaks that could be made that would perfect this title, these are vastly outweighed by the game’s sheer amount of style and substance. If you’re a fan of Hotline Miami, or in fact, any top-down shooter, then God’s Trigger is a must play, especially if you have a spare controller and a player 2 to hand.

God`s Trigger is a top-down shoot-em-up bullet hell which challenges your quick thinking and reflexes. Playing solo is ok, and playing with a friend is great, but it only supports local co-op. Frustration will reach high levels but will keep you motivated to get your sword bloody even more.

God's Trigger might feel underwhelming at the start, but its mediocre tutorial hides a fast, frantic and fun hack 'n' slash that is perfect to play with a friend.

God's Trigger is like if Quentin Tarantino adapted a Garth Ennis comic book and turned everything up to eleven. The story may not be that interesting and the music could've been better but the action is all that matters here and it's great. Playing the game on co-op is an absolute chaos and we loved every second of it.

It is not as elegant as The Hong Kong Massacre and lacks the level design of Hotline Miami, but this top-down shooter is fun to play and delivers a great local coop mode, in which we control and angel and a demon, whit their own unique abilities. Music, blood and humor reminds us of Tarantino movies.

With a good company, God’s Trigger can still often feel more frustrating than fun but at least you have someone to share the experience instead of just slamming yourself.

Ultimately, God’s Trigger’s grindhouse kitsch is effective because you can believe it was made by deeply inspired people who barely knew what they were doing. Blundering adrenaline has an unconscious authenticity which, by its nature, translates to a gnarly player experience. Misadventure is technically still an adventure.

Co-op certainly helps make a dull game slightly less dull, but the nicest thing I can say about God’s Trigger is that it’s serviceable, and given how crowded the market is, being competent simply isn’t good enough.
