With a solid single-player experience and a multiplayer game that is as much fun locally as it is online, Godzilla is just a fantastic game. I've played this longer than any other fighting game in my collection and I still enjoy going back for the occasional monster mash, even after I have long since unlocked everything.

There's nothing truly groundbreaking (apart from Godzilla's feet) and there's plenty of room for improvement, but also very little to complain about and the astonishing level of destruction will most likely have you grinning like an imbecile throughout.

The fighting manages to feel nimble while still providing a sense of awesome scale, which had to be an extremely hard balance to strike.

It is a marked improvement to the formula, but gamers turned off by the slow pace or average execution are encouraged to look elsewhere.

It's simultaneously better and worse than the original.

While it's a fun enough brawler, it's not exactly "Virtua Fighter 4."

A fun game and a worthy sequel to Godzilla: DAMM. If it had been afforded a little more finesse (especially regarding the Challenges) and a little more authentic Godzilla flavor, it'd be even sweeter.

This is by no means a real fighting game, it lacks combos, character depth and added storyline features and cut scenes, which could have potentially created a stunner, but overall, it's a fun –but limited- game.

As it is, there's barely anything that's new and even the online addition barely makes this aging game look any better.

For those concerned with the legitimacy of the game, Godzilla: StE has the full backing of Toho behind it. This means that all of your beloved monster calls are authentic and have been simulated to the best of Pipeworks' ability.

The battles between the creatures feel slow, and border on boring. The intensity that should be felt from fighting as a giant lizard wasn't felt, and that is a shame.

It's the brawling gameplay dragging things down.

You can grab certain small buildings, which is nice, but only the ones that glow red. Why not all of them? That in itself would add considerably to the "hell yeah" factor.

This sequel boasts larger battle arenas, including a surprisingly convincing New York City.

Hardcore Godzilla fans will appreciate seeing the decent renderings of some of their favorite monsters here, but they're unlikely to be terribly impressed by the action itself.

Gamers weaned on faster smackdowns and who aren't turned on by the idea of a showdown between Megalon and Destoroyah should proceed with caution.

Because the fighting is slow paced and repetitive, playing the game is rather tedious, especially if you want to suffer through the single player mode to unlock playable characters.

Only good for skyscraper mashing romps with buddies (you'll only play the single-player mode to unlock goodies), and even that grows tiresome quickly.

The game's balance is all wrong. The controls are overly simplistic and you seem to take more damage from the little helicopters that flit around than you do the other monsters.
