Grand Ages: Medieval rewards strategists, people who like to plan ahead and like to take time to sit back and oversee the big picture before deciding what to do next. Micromanagement is not required, just encouraged, and optimizing town wealth, output and growth through trade can be a fun challenge all by itself.

If you want to rule over Europe you can look forward to complex trading and city building. For military strategist it may fall short.

I liked my time with Grand Age: Medieval, but after spending a lot of time in the Balkans in my first campaign, I want to see whether there's variety in switching to another region for the start town.

A calm and strategic experience that may bore those who seek some action, but will delight those who just want to rule the (medieval) world through politics and economics.

Even with a fast forward button games of Grand Ages: Medieval will take a large chunk of time, furthermore the game forces you to take part in heavy trade to be able to keep your money out of negative and if you decide to go towards a more militaristic route then you will need to be able to fund your army.

Grand Ages: Medieval is a wasted opportunity. It tries to be original in many ways, but lacks in too many key aspects.

For a game that needs to present information clearly and effectively, it fails to do so, and this failure has an unfortunate ripple effect on the rest of the game.

Grand Ages: Medieval is an ambitious trade/military/leadership simulator of medieval Europe. After the first few hours of entertainment you will be probably caught - either by bears or more likely by boredom.

Extremely slow-paced strategy game sacrifices all the fun and features to economic complexity what –at the end– doesn’t work that well.
