Green Hell's development is ending 'with tears in their eyes' after 6 years of making one of our senior editors so angry he beat a defenseless armadillo. One last update will be released.

The hit survival game Green Hell will be ending its five-year run on Steam with its next update. Six years if you include the year spent in early access prior to its 1.0 release.

Green Hell is not only notable because it made Chris Livingston so angry that he beat a helpless armadillo to death. It has a small but steady fan base and a "very positive rating" across more than 52,000 reviews on Steam. Over the past two years, Creepy Jar released more than 100 updates to the game and 20 updates to the content. "These updates have greatly expanded the story and mechanics of the game," the studio stated.

"And now, with tears in our eyes, we've decided to release one more update - the final update to the Green Hell game and complete the experience."

This update will be released on September 3 and will include a variety of new decorating options for Green Hell. You can craft stuff, paint stuff and hang stuff. You can also store stuff and display stuff.

Creepy Jar stated that the entire team had a lot of fun creating this update. "We were constantly sharing new ideas with each other about what else could be added, and in its final form, there are so many new things to play around with!"

Creepy Jar has confirmed that Green Hell will still be supported despite the end of the content updates. However, the studio is now focusing on its next project: a sci-fi, open-world exploration title called StarRupture. This game is "hugely inspired by the things we've learned while creating Green Hell."

StarRupture's release date has not been announced, but the game is available for wishlisting on Steam.
