Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Critic Reviews

It expands many features and explores more of the deeply rich story that has been long-established since the original Guild Wars released. It is a fantastic experience and definitely goes among my personal top 10 games ever played.

Guild Wars 2 continues set itself apart by being an MMO that stresses and encourages players to adventure and tackle challenges together.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns offers plenty of content to make both PvP as well as PvE oriented players happy. Besides this the MMORPG has become more social with the release of this expansion. The only negative worth mentioning is the fact that your character doesn't really 'grow' while experiencing Heart of Thorns. But ah well, I'm sure you'll soon forget this once you're gliding through the jungle.

A great expansion, and a promising sign of things to come. Some minor issues aside, Heart of Thorns is a clever addition to one of the best MMOs around.

Heart of Thorns introduces an innovative progression system that is a lot more satisfying than just adding new 'gear' to collect. The new zones are annoyingly difficult, but that's a good thing for hardcore players.

Not the biggest expansion, but it enhances the best parts of an already magnificent MMO.

Heart of Thorns is so good I forgot the flaws that made me lose interest in the original game after my initial delight with it.

Heart of Thorns may not be a perfect expansion, but it’s definitely something I think every fan of the game should check out. Just be prepared to rove about Maguuma in a pack, you’re going to need some help to get the most out of the jungle.

With staggering depth to both its map design and new Mastery progression, Heart of Thorns gives Guild Wars 2 players old and new plenty of engaging ways to keep playing. There are still refinements to be made in certain areas, but ArenaNet have shown they are up to the task, making this a worthwhile expansion for MMO fans.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a good first expansion for ArenaNet's MMO. The new Elite Specializations and The Revenant are interesting. Maguuma is an awesome place, too bad there weren't more areas to explore.

The first expansion of Guild Wars 2 adds a lot of new content like Masteries, new zones and the Revenant, the brand new class with the powers of the Mists. Have fun to exploring the new area called Heart of Maguuma and try to find every secret.

I am largely happy with this. I will continue to keep an eye on this—MMORPGS are difficult to gauge early on, but ArenaNet has a good track record, and this remains, in my opinion, the strongest online game on the market.

It was rather refreshing returning to Guild Wars 2 after an extended absence. With mountains of fresh and exiting content, Guild Wars 2 Heart of Thorns is most definitely worth it if you’re a fan of the franchise. The new map is beautiful to behold, and there is friendship around every corner.

In spite of the odd stumble, it's a wonderful journey.

It does a good job of overcoming these shortcomings with an entertaining story, a fun new class, generally attractive elite specializations, and a new vertical focus on exploration.

Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a good expansion pack that offers everything veteran players wanted. The new environments are amazing and the Revenant is an attractive new type of hero, but we miss more contents and new gameplay mechanics.

Heart of Thorns is a curious experiment which further strengthen ArenaNet's resolve to change the MMO landscape. Does it work? Not really, not totally. The metroidvania progression is kind of fun but the endless grind of public events and group activities makes every step of the road more frustrating than appealing.
