Every other fighting game on Vita offers netplay, and without it, you're stuck hunting for someone else with a system and a copy of the game if you want a real fight. It isn't enough to kill all the fun, but it does make AC+R feel incomplete compared to some other portable brawlers.

Accent Core Plus R is the best version of the series available. The only problem is that it is also the deepest gameplay wise while neglecting to include any of the training or tutoring options that the earlier versions have featured.

So long as you aren't bothered by an utter fumbling of features in this port, you're still getting a solid fighting game that should at the very least, function as a portable training simulation for the console version. I'm pretty torn on the review given the omission of such a major function, but ultimately Guilty Gear is a great game, and that core was preserved here.

No online multiplayer will stop the GG hardcore needing to pick up a copy, and its high difficulty will be too abrasive for new players. It's still a technically superb fighting game, though, even if very few people should bother owning it.

Moreover, if you love testing your skills against others online, this game isn’t for you, either. If you like playing fighters by yourself, huddled up in a corner in some depressingly dark room, then sure, Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus R is the thing for you. It’s just a shame that such a terrible, terrible decision can hold back such a wonderful game.

Plus R is a fine tune-up of one of the most technical fighting games around, but its skeletal packaging makes it all but impossible for non-fans to get excited. There are untold hours of value here that will be all but impenetrable to most. Unless you know the game and have a local community of like-minded opponents ready to go, I can’t recommend it.
