Half-Life fans are once again donning the clown makeup after a codenamed Valve Project was found in a voice-actor's resume.
It's time to do it again. Another rumor has been spread, this time through a leak of a videogame actor's resume, that Valve is developing a new Half-Life.
The voice actor listed "Project White Sands", a Valve title they worked on. A release date is TBA. Someone on the Gaming Leaks and Rumours Subreddit noticed it and now we are off to the races once more.
Citadel, and later Neon Prime, were the codenames for Valve's multiplayer shooter Deadlock. Previous leaks had revealed that Valve was working on a multiplayer game called Deadlock. The codename, "White Sands", is similar to Half-Life's Black Mesa. It is also the name of NASA's testing facility in New Mexico and a missile range. It was the missile range that saw the first atomic test detonation in 1945.
In February, data strings found in an update for Counter-Strike 2 hinted that two Half-Life games were in development by Valve. The first was Citadel which later became Deadlock. The second appeared with the initials 'hlx'. It was suggested this could refer to something that is underwhelming in our opinion, such as a cross-play Half-Life: Alyx version for PSVR2. But when it comes to Half-Life, hope springs everlasting.
Redditors responded to the leak in the usual way, with a mix of cynicism, desperation and sarcasm. They posted comments like "HL3 Copium is Back Boys", "Half Life Hero Shooter", and "fuckit, I'm putting back my clown makeup."
