Halo: Spartan Strike is nothing more than a filler in the main saga, but once you acknowledge that, you'll find a pretty good twin-stick shooter, with a good setting and solid gameplay. The multiplayer would have earned it a higher score.

Halo: Spartan Strike's upgraded parts aren't immediately apparent, but the sum total is pretty striking. A pinch of better aiming here, a heaping helping of Promethian enemies there, and annoying microtransactions nowhere make Spartan Strike worth the quick and cheap sub-ten-dollar tour.

We need to take this game as a spin-off with a mobile nature. If you don't expect a full-size Halo, it's worth your time.

While the lack of multiplayer is disappointing, it features more than enough loadout options to add variety that it warrants repeat playthroughs.

Classic isometric action packed adventure that takes place during the Halo 2 events. Linear and too familiar, but still interesting enough for Halo aficionados.

The action is fast and furious.

Some fun twin stick shooting but the bird's eye view removes any Halo nuance.

A spin-off that lacks the scale of the main Halo games – you rarely fight alongside other Spartans and when you do they are usually passive and act as animated props.

Even the Halo brand can’t save Spartan Strike with its short linear levels, long boring shootouts with dumb enemies and a silly story.
