Hatred is a good twin-stick shooter that manages to offer an interesting experience only through the actual theme. Besides that, however, it's not something outstanding. Developer Destructive Creations could have transformed its targets into zombies or civilians and escape the controversy, but it stuck to its initial idea, and while it's not executed all that well in terms of story, it deserves recognition.

Surprisingly good for a game mainly sold on controversy, Hatred has solid gameplay and presentation, but also a severe lack of depth and its own exaggerations often fall into the realm of parody.

Hatred is a decent twin-stick shooter that stands out from the clutter more for its controversial 18+ theme rather than its overall quality.

Leaving the controversy at the door, Hatred is a solid 90's isometric action game, with 80's horror cheese, and cringe inducing parodying of what is considered edgy.

Hatred isn’t half as provocative as moralists claim: it doesn’t emphasize the act of aggression; it cares only about the number of victims. Executions are carried out with about as much emotion as stomping on a Goomba in Mario game.

Hatred is a very playable game for fans of adrenaline and bloody thrills, although the content of the game is a bit controversial. The game could be longer, more diverse and better optimized (Unreal Engine 4 is hungry for power). And given the overall quality Hatred did not deserve all the media buzz surrounding its development and most likely it won't be remembered in a few years' time.

Hatred is an average Isometric Twin Stick shooter that will seduce gamers with it's destruction engine and the dynamic gameplay it offers, before disgusting them with very repetitive actions, its awful camera and a difficulty we thought was too exponential.

Hatred relies on being controversial, but as a game it's just an average action experience that will give you a few hours of moderate fun.

A useless game, more than a bad game. Give it a chance if you find it on sale only.

Repetitive, short-lived, without a real plot and full of senseless massacres. Hatred is not a great game, but in its simple twin-stick shooter mechanics, it’s not too bad and it provides some cute ideas.

Hatred is better internet scandal than game.

There's nothing really special about Hatred. It's a twin-stick shooter. It has guns in it. It has objectives. Most of the time those objectives involve acting like a menace to society or blowing stuff up. It doesn't have anything new to bring to the table, or anything interesting to say about the genre. You can go back to yelling at it now if you want.

For all of the shock and hullaballoo following its path toward release, Hatred is nothing special or particularly egregious in the world of video game violence, except for the fact that it relies on that violence alone. The game takes itself extremely seriously and has plenty of extremely violent content and murder, but it ends up feeling more like camp.

We don't know what to highlight in Hatred beyond the controversy for its extreme violence, It gets boring quickly. If you want senseless ultraviolence and fun gameplay, you are going to find only the second. At least, the visual style and the destructible environments are remarkable.

Destructive Creations' debut project is not a very interesting one. Visuals can impress, but gameplay leaves a lot to be desired.

The main issue with Hatred is not the fact that it's about killing innocent civilians, instead we have very serious problems with its boring gameplay and repetitive action.

Destructive Creations is done well from the visual aspect, but when we look at the big picture, Hatred is a boring game.

Hatred is nothing more than a bad video game. Destructive Creations has done everything in order to get as much hype as possible, in order to sell a mediocre twin stick shooter. The lack of an interesting point of view about hate and violence is enough to ignore this product, even during the Steam sales.

The only interesting aspects of Hatred are its graphics, impressing indeed, and its ability to shock the player (although in a very cheap way). Beneath that, there's only a dull and repetitive gameplay.

If you’re looking for a certain thrill to accompany random acts of mass slaughter, you’ll find it in plenty of other games on the market today. Controversy can only carry a game so far, before it trips itself up.
