Helldivers 2 finally has democracy: A new Democracy Space Station allows players to vote on the planet that gets bombarded with truth and justice each 24 hours.
Helldivers 2 had democracy in spirit before (my democracy officer who is not standing over me with a gun tells this to me) but now, it has democracy in action. The Democracy Space Station (DSS), a feature that was so eagerly anticipated, it prompted players to form the Freedom Alliance.
This is more than just a flavour text for the next big order. It's an entirely new game mechanic and a great way for divers who have already invested in their equipment to spend those hard-earned resources. Every 24 hours, Super Earth's divers can vote on the planet to which the station should be redirected.
Once there, certain actions -- purchased with piles of samples and requisitions -- will bombard whatever soon-to-be-liberated planet that the DSS is distributing democracy over. It's not clear if this aid will make missions harder or easier, but who cares? More explosions! Do you want to live forever? !
The official Helldivers 2 Discord has a helpful bot that I'm told, is not an Automaton. It provides the following information: "The DSS moves once every 24 hours." The DSS can only move to a world that has been majority-voted by Helldivers. Helldivers are only allowed to vote once per movement, so make sure you vote wisely. You cannot change or undo your vote after you have voted.
Currently, the actions are just over half-way complete at the time this article was written.
- Planetary Bombardment: Fires Orbital Barrages periodically during missions to accelerate liberation campaigns.
- Eagle Storm (Common Samples). The same as planetary bombardment with the addition of eagle run and a buff for defence campaigns.
- Orbital blockade (Requisitions:) Stops all defence campaigns and gives the Hellpod Space Optimisation boost to all divers.
Each of these actions will have a maximum donation that you can make. They are only active under the planet the station is hovering over.
