This Half-Life 2 themed RTX 4080 super almost makes up for that fact we are about to reach the 20th anniversary of the game and there is still no Half-Life 3 on the horizon.
Half-Life 2 is approaching its 20th anniversary. If that makes you feel older, you are probably right. Nvidia has a Half-Life 2 themed RTX4080 Super Founders edition that you can win to make yourself feel better about your mortality and the lack of Half Life 3.
Nvidia's second-most powerful RTX-40-series graphics cards have been rusted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the game in a few days, on November 16. (It was first released on this day in 2004). It sounds awful, but the graphics are actually quite nice.
It also has a Gordo Freeman and a little Half-Life 2 Logo. It could be a stunning centrepiece for a Half-Life-themed rusty build.
Nvidia is also involved in this. It's a celebration of Valve's greatest achievement, and also a chance for Nvidia to talk about the game on which it is working closely with developers: Half-Life 2RTX.
Orbifold Studios has remade Half-Life 2 using all-new assets, lighting and Nvidia's RTX graphics cards. Orbifold Studios' modders have a big project ahead of them. They are always looking for more modders who can lend a helping hand. However, they also use Nvidia's RTX Remix toolkit to ease the workload.
I spoke with the team at Orbifold Studios about RTX Remix, and Half-Life 2 RTX in the beginning of the year. If you're interested in learning more about either of these, I recommend that you read the linked article. You can also view their latest video devoted to Half-Life 2
On the new Steam page for Half-Life 2: RTX, you can now wishlist the game. This suggests that the game is getting closer to a release. There's no firm release date yet.
