The Helldivers 2 state-owned missile platforms players that were voted into existence are also exploding.

Yesterday, I spoke highly of the Democracy Space Station that was added to Helldivers 2. I would like to clarify two points. I still think the Democracy Space Station is a cool concept. However, I said this before players bought any of its "actions", like the planetary bombardment. Now that the planetary bombardments have been released, players are realising they've voted for a synthetic meteor storm that kills them just as often as it kills bugs and bots.

"Two month for this," writes a player incensed on the game's Subreddit. They lament their recently blown off limbs. Wasn't this supposed help us? This is a bit insulting. We made a Super Weapon just to kill ourselves. Who thought that randomly and often bombing the players at random places would be a good experience for them? Is this a hoax? What is it?" Democracy, I guess.

In one mission, a fellow voter says, "we probably lost 10 reinforcements from DSS." It killed perhaps 2 robots. It aims us when the nearest robot is 120 metres from us. What is the reasoning behind this?"

If you needed video proof, this is it. A player dropped out of his pod, walked into a beautiful desert with enchanting music playing, made it three steps and was then smacked into the underworld. They themselves had voted for the superweapon to be in power. It's also a damned good shot.

The Orbital Bombardment Feels a Bit Counterproductive... From r/Helldivers

Arrowhead Games, as stated by community manager Twinbeard on the Helldivers 2 Discord, is aware of the problem. Twinbeard, the community manager on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, assures players in the interim that the devs are working to fix the problem, and that they have followed the proper testing procedures. "Testing has been done," he says. "Now we have to test the testing in order to see if it was properly tested. "We will probably test it again next time after we've tested it."

Arrowhead has been on a smooth road since its recent update, which fixed a lot of issues players had with the title. It's at least hilariously appropriate--the super-democracy of Helldivers 2 hides an oppressive regime who will kill you or imprison you if they think you saluted the flag incorrectly. It's a lore-accurate thing to allow soldiers to vote on a poorly-programmed system that doesn't care whether they're a friend or ally. We hope Super Earth's best democracy officers can find the pro Automaton traitors responsible for these repeated betrayals, and bring them to justice.
