As with all M&M games, the sound effects are my favorite. Each town and feature on the map has its own song or sound, and the richness and variety is impressive.

The graphical elements are not the best (the game only requires a Pentium 133 processor and 32 megs of hard drive space), and the sound quality falls a little short, but the program appeals to a wide range of players because of its lack of violence, easy player interface and customizable difficulty levels.

The Heroes games have always been fun, and this one is no exception. Yet the experience is decidedly short and it's too easy to miss half of the story by beating missions too fast.

The gameplay in Conquest of the Underworld is very formulaic, despite the generally high quality of the map designs.

If you're looking for something new from Heroes Chronicles, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. Conquest of the Underworld doesn't offer any unique units, no new sound bites, no improved presentation, nothing. It's more of the same.

This blasé and paint-by-numbers series provides little momentum for the Might & Magic franchise. Time for a fresh drawing board to keep this once-proud name alive.

If you're a fan of the Heroes series these Chronicles are mildly enjoyable, sort of like the pleasure you get from watching sitcom reruns that you've seen several times already.
