This is a chess game of healthy pedigree, using the Perfect Chess engine previously seen in Ubisoft’s Chessmaster. Not only that, but the price is right.

The adventure mode is engrossing and fun to play even for those who don't like chess, because it plays more like a good turn-based strategy.

Majestic Chess actually lives up to its name in not only theme, but quality and originality too.

From the detailed graphics, amazing music, excellent tutorial, and excellent concept, everyone should find something to enjoy with this game.

If I had access to this back when I was learning the game, I think I would have been a much better player earlier on.

While I still prefer the social nature of face-to-face matches, the small mistakes and oversights the engine makes give you the sense that you're really playing a personality and not a program.

It is, however, perfect for beginner to novice chess players since it candy-coats the ancient game with plenty of vivid 3D graphics, and a built-in adventure game.

If you ever fancied a dabble but were put off with what seemed like complicated rules give Majestic Chess a chance, its brilliant story mode will teach you the rules at a pace that’s right for you.

The Adventure mode, while not what it is billed to be, does give a good challenge to both beginners and skilled players alike. If you're a fan of chess and need a new game or have a child you wish to teach, Majestic Chess may just fit the bill.

With the chess adventure, Majestic Chess does offer the best way to introduce any kid (or adult who would prefer lessons presented in an unorthodox and enjoyable manner) to the game of chess.

Daft idea, but the basic game does all you'd wish for.

While it ultimately fails to be an easily accessible, helpful tool to teach the true novice how to play chess well, Majestic Chess is a well-made product that provides good competition for amateur players who aren't too serious about their game.

It's an excellent tool for honing your skills with a range of enjoyable challenges for novice and master alike.
