With its evocative setting and a delectable mix of PvE and PvP gameplay that provides a peerless theater for emergent player stories, Hunt: Showdown is an exceptionally clever and thoughtful shooter that elevates the genre as a whole. I can see Hunt Showdown being a fixture of my gaming diet for months, even years to come.

The PS4 version is very close to the PC version even if it a bit less impressive visually. There are a few graphic bugs on the water surfaces, nothing really bad. Whether it's for matchmaking or framerate, the experience is complete. Clearly the best co-op FPS of 2019.

A return to form for Crytek that defies busy FPS norms. Like its ’orrible spiders, Hunt: Showdown is constantly shifting and very hard to put in a box. Get yourself online and join in the hunting fun.

Provides you with plenty of stealth mechanics but leagues of ground to cover, and that tension is deadly.

Hunt: Showdown's unique horror-infused mix of PvE and PvP will frustrate you... but more and often than not it will also leave you with one hell of a story to tell.

An inspired mix of survival horror and battle royale that also manages to blend competitive and co-operative gameplay into a terrifyingly entertaining whole.

Hunt: Showdown is a terrifying experience that is unlike anything else you’ll find on PlayStation 4. Horror fans will find a lot to love, as will fans of unique shooters, and the game has already established quite an audience on other platforms. More content will inevitably trickle out in the coming months, but for now this is the kind of scare-fest that’s easy to recommend – an addictive, nerve-shredding title, but one that feels like a wonderful (and somehow horrible) first step in a long road.

Hunt: Showdown is perfect for gamers who are in it for the long haul. Those that love the rush of endorphins that come with a long-sought-after victory, and who are okay with death after death after near-victory after dumb mistake/disconnection/other tragedy that hinders an otherwise flawless ascent towards the next bloodline level.

Hunt: Showdown delivers a tactical FPS that blends PvE and PvP in a cooperative and competitive way. Even if the console version remains a little below the PC version in terms of graphics, it's still an original and efficient game. If you're bound to repeat the same actions over and over again, the concept of lineage, with the permanent death of the hunters, allows to compensate a bit for that. In the same way, we would have liked more maps and bosses, or even more game modes to get our hands on. The tense and oppressive atmosphere is really pleasant, as is the soundtrack and the spatial management of the game. We can play one game after the other without being too reluctant about these little details.

Despite exasperating a few problems from the original version, Hunt: Showdown on console is still an experience worth living. Some graphic and audio limits on a normal PS4 and the 30 fps locked frame rate are not enough to ruin a truly unique gaming experience; it is still easy to recommend the title to anyone who is even minimally interested in a less chaotic and more strategic horror shooter.

It’s just exhilarating to play, and despite sometimes being a little slow, is often a perfect game to settle into with some friends for a good night of raucous laughter, and the occasional guttural squeak of fear as a monster warps behind you or sends a swarm of locusts after you. It’s unlike most of what you can play out there, and it holds up just as well on consoles.

Hunt Showdown is a thrilling and original take on the battle royale genre. Hunt and be hunted for the best rewards whilst walking through the lands of 19th century Louisiana. Despite some minor technical flaws, the first-person shooter succeeds in delivering both exciting and terrifying co-op experience.

From tense standoff gameplay to the 19th century Louisana meets survival horror PVE elements. Hunt Showdown is a tense, tactical multiplayer experience that circumvents the tired battle-royale genre by being something unique. Excellent sound design and atmospheric visuals round off the package, with only a few infrequent bugs that get in the way.

I'll admit I wasn’t keen on Hunt: Showdown to start with, but after the first few matches I realised there's something special here. This is an unusual entry in a genre ruled by far snappier shooters, and it takes time to get your head around Crytek's clever twist on the formula. Stick with it and you'll be rewarded with a uniquely engrossing multiplayer experience.

Hunt Showdown is a tactical shooter like no other you´ve ever played. It delivers a great balance between fights, horror elements, stealth... set in 19th century Louisiana. On the downside there is no single player mode and we encountered some problems with matchmaking.

Hunt: Showdown delivers a deep, hardcore PvPvE shooter experience. In terms of atmosphere, lore and sound design the game really stands out, but the console version has to deal with some issues.

Hunt: Showdown is at first absolutely terrifying, but as you adjust it morphs into a smart, tense, and rewarding shooter that is best played with friends. It has slow moments and losing your hunter and progress can be incredibly frustrating, but those moments are all forgiven when you take down an enemy team with your sniper rifle. A fascinating shooter which isn't for everyone, but might be for you.

HUNT: Showdown has the potential to be one of the very best FPS/horror games out there, but the initial content is not enough to keep the player engaged for long periods of time.

Hunt: Showdown will keep you on the edge of your seat while you are taking down vile monsters and nasty players. Hunt is a well-themed competitive game that conveys various emotions while you play but offers little content. It is very likely that you will become addicted to bounty hunting, but it gets boring after a while.
