For everyone else, there’s some mild point-and-click fun to be had, but this is one adventure that’s simply too paper thin.

Not for veteran gamers. Truly engaging puzzle-solving and high quality presentation are absent from the game, but its accessible control style and somewhat interesting plot make it at least playable.

There will be little debate that Inkheart makes a better novel and a movie than it does a game. Don't let it break your heart.

Look, I know reading isn't cool anymore, but getting your kid Inkheart on the DS is pretty much like getting them a book anyway. Only this book has really bad writing, and it makes readers do chores in between the chapters instead of just letting them enjoy the story.

You can replay those games for a little bit of replay value, but the best use of this title is probably as a doorstop.

If you love the movie, you might want to try this out just to see what it’s all about. If you are hankering for a decent adventure game with a book twist, go grab Hotel Dusk: Room 215. It’s a much better “read”.

The one saving grace that the game does has is that is references plenty of older, classic novels that young kids may have never heard of.

Inkheart does offers two-player wireless play (mini-games only), assuming both players have a copy of the game, which is kind of insulting. I really can’t, in good conscience, recommend this DS game to any but my worst enemies.
