Inzoi Character Studio's limited-time demo allows Sims fans to create gorgeous Zois.

Inzoi, a new life simulation, launched a demo of its Inzoi Character Studio yesterday. It's no surprise that Sims fans, who have been looking for an alternative to the series which has dominated the market for decades, are flocking there--to the tune 18,000 players at once and growing. Inzoi is not just a change of pace, but also gorgeous.

You can download Inzoi Character Studios on Steam now. The demo will run until 9pm Pacific time this Sunday, 25th August. It seems that many of you stayed up much later than me last night to try it right at launch, because the creations have been coming in fast.

Shreks, celebrity faces, standard Sims characters and recreations of them are all common. Modders have Thomas the Tank Engine, and character creators have Shrek.

Inzoi's Character Creator is beautiful by default. The hair textures are to die for, with realistic waves. There are many options for editing individual features. These include color pickers, custom patterns, and eye bag sliders.

Sims 4 custom content is a constant attempt to achieve this "alpha" visual style. I haven't tried much yet, but Inzoi has that shiny, super realistic look out of the gate, which is no doubt attracting many dissatisfied Sims players.

It's still not above criticism. Krafton is working to fix the DirectX errors and crashes that players have experienced. Character creators have some assumptions from life sims baked in. For example, there is a lack of options for facial hair.

The full launch of Inzoi is not yet scheduled but it's still expected to happen in late 2024.
