Even Phil Spencer has been bugging Todd Howard for vehicles in Starfield. 'Come, Todd... I'm tired walking'
Bethesda announced the release date for Starfield's Shattered Space expansion during the Gamescom Opening Night Live, along with a short trailer and a surprise early launch of a new vehicle. The Rev-8 vehicle is now available to all players in-game (talk to your ship's technician). It has Mako energy and shock absorbers that work overtime on the rocky terrain.
Since launch vehicles were first requested, Starfield has been the most requested feature. This is because the game contains a lot of huge planets which you must traverse by foot. It's one of the main reasons why exploration feels a little dull.
Todd Howard, Bethesda's chief at the time, said: "In a sense, you have a vehicle. You have your spaceship and you can travel in space." "But on the surface, you do have a Jetpack that you can upgrade. This is a super-fun, new experience for Bethesda."
This justification was not accepted by many, including Xbox head Phil Spencer. Spencer appeared on Xbox's Gamescom live stream to tout the great Xbox lineup. He then said that his Gamescom attendance had prevented him from trying out the Rev-8. (Timestamp first spotted by GamesRadar+). Spencer has been pleading with Todd Howard to get it done.
Spencer said, "Oh and I am here so I won't be doing it: My buggy in Starfield." "I've asked Todd for vehicles. "Come on Todd, I'm ready for vehicles in this game. I'm tired walking around this world. "I thought the trailer looked really good last evening, so I can't waiting to drive around planets with Starfield."
Keep with me: In an animated series called Llamas in Hats one of the funniest things is when Carl the llama explains he has done something bad, and Paul the "Caaaa" the llama says. I imagine Phil Spencer in his Redmond office surrounded by neatly ironed and folded gamer tees, calling Todd Howard on his personal hotline and complaining about space buggies. "Come Onnn Todddddd!"
Shattered Space, the next expansion to Starfield's Rev-8, will be released on September 30. The expansion will focus on the House Va'ruun - a "weird" space cult who "believe in a eternal space snake". It has hints of spooky cosmic horror. The Rev-8 appears in the trailer several times, so the campaign will be getting a workout.
