Doesn't last long enough to feel like anything more than a bunch of tasty side dishes lacking a main course.

If the game was a little bit harder, longer, and just better overall this would have been one of the best movie to game conversions in a while.

While TIJ doesn't exactly fail on any given level, it certainly doesn't really over achieve either. Another movie, another bland game is released. The world continues on.

The game has its moments and definitely delivers a fast and fun experience...while it lasts. But with no Live, limited two-player races, and an entirely too short Story mode, you can get everything out of this racer with a rental.

Eidos has given me an enjoyable game but its over before it ever gets started. Give me longer missions and more of them. Just because its based on a two-hour movie doesn't mean it has to be a two-hour game.

The game is short -- way too short. A halfway decent player is going to spend more time watching the movie than playing through the story mode.

The game plays pretty decently, looks polished, and sounds just fine. Fans of the movie would love the action in this game, and casual gamers would love the length of the missions. The game’s biggest problem is that it’s so darned short!

I really have no idea why this game was made so short. You can make it through the story mode in an afternoon.

A surprisingly decent driving game. It has modes for every mood and no glaring flaws, although its short length and numerous frustrating bits will surely turn people away. But the game is also very demanding.

This ain't debatable. The Italian Job is far too short, clocking in at barely a few hours of play in the Story Mode.

Gamer's Pulse May 2, 2024
The story mode follows the movie and offers some differing missions, but most of the action gets boring after a short time.

Away from the restrictions enforced by the licence the game improves. Free Roam gives you unlimited access to the excellently designed LA streets and rooftops, while Stunt Mode also takes greater advantage of the exquisite physics engine. But why are there no added incentives such as stunt scoring or accumulators? A missed opportunity.

The ordinary race-and-chaser’s loosely knit compilation of repetitive Mini Cooper showdowns has a recognizable scene or two, but that’s about it.

The graphics are crisp and astonishingly smooth, but the game is terribly short—the mission mode is too easy and the auxiliary racing bits are uninteresting.

Lacks the planned skill of the criminals that the game portrays; and instead, comes off as a mindless licensed product.

Like a plate of pasta without the sauce: not bad, but missing all the flavor.

The boring, repetitive, annoying missions will only frustrate you. If you must drive a Mini, buy the much better (and much cheaper) Italian Job on PS1.

GameSpot May 2, 2024
Unlike the entries from Microsoft and Rockstar, though, The Italian Job is almost completely devoid of both flavor and interesting gameplay, and the whole thing feels like it was slapped together in a supreme hurry to cash in on the release of the film.

Xbox Nation Magazine May 2, 2024
With no map to guide you, these missions are as much fun as trying to solve a Rubik's Cube in the dark.

If The Italian Job was a disease, it would surely be more dangerous than SARS. In other words, stay as far away from this game as possible.
