JYDGE isn’t very long, but it’s incredibly wide, and its winking embrace of ’80s-style ultraviolence should charm both devotees of the franchises that inspired it and anyone who can appreciate a clever shooter.

Jydge is great. Not only is it inexpensive, but it offers a lot of diversity in terms of builds or play styles. If you want to make it to the end, you’ll certainly be required to branch out and test the waters, but this only led to more fun in my experience.

With its smartly constructed levels and deep customisation options, JYDGE is 10Tons' best twin-stick shooter yet.

Jydge is superb in its approach to a niche genre. It’s violent, it bends to your particular whims thanks to an onslaught of constantly available upgrades and it never takes itself too seriously as you dispense instant jystice.

JYDGE is fun, offers a lot of replayability and adds a great coop mode. It's not unforgettable, but it's definitely enjoyable.

It's a shame the game forces you to replay certain sections in order to experience the whole thing, thus making JYDGE a lot more repetitive than it should be. If you are able to overlook this minor complaint, JYDGE comes highly recommended.

If you played Neon Chrome or other similar isometric twin stick shooters and enjoyed them I would recommend giving this one a go. At first glance it doesn’t seem like much but once you get into the meat of it you’ll realize that there is more then meets the eye. The game is short but has some depth.

In other words, it’s a cross between Robo-Cop and Hotline Miami, thrown over whatever twin-stick shooter floats your boat. It doesn’t do much for me, and I suspect that, in years to come, if I ever try to recall Jydge I’ll have a hard time differentiating it from Neon Chrome, but if you just want a solid twin-stick shooter, it’ll do.

Jydge is another entry in 10tons line of competent twin-stick shooters. The robust upgrade system and loadout options are its best features but the campaign is dragged down a bit by a lack of unique levels and being forced to replay them multiple times.

JYDGE is an enjoyable twin-stick shooter that has a fun and destructive core mechanic and a lot of replay value. If you’re a huge fan of twin-stick shooters it’d be a crime not to give this one a try and judge it for yourself.

Ultimately, this is a strong twin-shooter that might be a little too confident in how much people will enjoy replaying older stages on a higher difficulty.

Jydge’s core mechanics are solid and the means to customize the character in meaningful ways that impact the gameplay are almost ridiculously extensive. Unfortunately the game becomes wearisome quickly, as it offers only 18 short missions and the grind-based progression system makes you replay them over and over again with slight alterations. Jydge also doesn’t look good and voice acting is laughable.

Jydge has been found guilty of conspicuous padding and needless repetition, and my sentence will see it placed in a comfy resort prison with all the other decent games when it could have walked free this very day as one of the good ones. Let this serve as a warning to all other perpetrators who would seek to increase value through nothing more than a shallow investment of time.
