Despite a few shortcomings, King Arthur: Knight's Tale is one of the best strategy RPGs I've played. While the SRPG aspects are pretty great, this alternate take on the Arthurian Tale can keep you engaged with its characters and stories.

Overall though, it’s been a lot of fun diving back into the Arthurian legend and this darker take on it. It’s a fun game with a decent amount of polish to it. Grab it if you love Arthurian mythology or just decent turn based RPGs.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale could easily be considered the definitive King Arthur game and likely among the greatest modern media on the subject, especially since there’s little competition. It’s also a top-notch tactical RPG with an unexpectedly compelling story. The gameplay is solid on all levels, especially if you’re looking for a tactical challenge and love using fancy abilities in battle. My playthrough of King Arthur: Knight’s Tale alone took over 50 hours, so there’s plenty to keep you busy, but you can expect even more bloody adventures to come. The king is dead; long live the (new?) king!

Quality work by Neocore Games and a title that offers dozens of hours of addictive gameplay. Clearly recommended for fans of the genre.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale boasts a deep and engaging combat system that is as rewarding as it is ruthless. A worthwhile adventure into Arthurian Legend, it’s a fantastic entry into the tactical RPG space that unfortunately begins to suffer with technical issues as the story unfolds. As many of the cutscenes tell you, it’s a work in progress.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is a clear departure from the King Arthur titles that Neocore Games is known for. It’s not just the new setting, but also the combat mechanics and the management aspect of your base of operations that makes the game very engaging. Although I’d hoped King Arthur: Knight’s Tale would be something different than what we’re used to, I certainly didn’t expect it to be so good. If you’re a fan of turn-based strategy games and love a compelling, yet dark story, I can’t recommend King Arthur: Knight’s Tale enough, it’s an exceptional game.

Aside a few complaints here and there, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is a grim, compelling take on the legend of Camelot.

A very strong tactical RPG from NeoCore, rich and enticing. King Arthur Knight’s Tale is a convincing trip in Avalon that's very close to something even greater.

Unpolished gem with some space for improvement. If you like this type of games, sit back and relax and it will take you to some new and dark places that you will enjoy.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is a grotesquely atmospheric take on Arthurian legends that explores the dichotomies of an era of Britannia when it was torn between the remnants of its gold gods and the newborn Christian religion. Neocore did an excellent job with this game and I’m sure many fans of Squad-based Tactical-RPGs will enjoy this game for tens of hours.

King Arthur: Knight's Tale is an excellent strategic role-playing game, with many winning features, such as the setting and the combat system, which fortunately the flaws, while present, fail to nullify. Of course, we would have liked a few more interactions in the exploration phases, as well as a more balanced management of progression, but you can't have it all.

With its engaging combat and dark world that begs to be explored, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is a treat for those who love RPGs they can sink their teeth into. It might not be the deepest in terms of mechanics or character development, but that just adds to its allure, keeping it relatively frictionless. It’s the fact that this is your journey that will really win you over though. Will you rule over Camelot as a tyrant, or try to bring peace to the land? It’s up to you. And there are many other important decisions to be made along the way.

At the bottom line, I nevertheless think, that King Arthur: Knight's Tale is a real diamond in the rough. If NeocoreGames continues to improve the concept just a little, we could see a Tactival RPG milestone coming from this studio.

King Arthur: Knight’s Tale is a dark fantasy RPG that offers an interesting take on Arthurian legend and a turn-based combat system that will appeal to XCOM fans. Engaging story, enjoyable battles and great atmosphere ensure at least 25 hours of fun.

A certain repetitiveness in the battle system is broken by the other phase of the game, in which you upgrade your castle and your knights. The game has gone through a lot of delays, but the final product is definitely worth the attention of players of turn-based strategy games and dark fantasy alike.

A grimdark take on King Arthur's saga that is a pleasant surprise for tactical RPG lovers.

Playing the NeocoreGames title, we had mixed feelings. If from a tactical and managerial point of view the product can offer a demanding challenge even for the most demanding players, some choices in the game mechanics appear not entirely in focus. The technical care for every aspect is evident from the very first minutes and the ambitions of the development team in wanting to create an epic story of battles and magic make King Arthur: Knight's Tale a work of great aspirations. We cannot help but notice how these go in more than one circumstance to shatter against a lack of variety in some respects. In any case, the possibility of developing a plot full of characters and events in several ways gives the title a fair amount of replayability and content, which will satisfy fans of the genre.

King Arthur: Knight's Tale is a great turn-based strategy game, but vastly more so for those well-versed in Arthurian legend. That said, even if you don't know much about the legend — or want to learn about it — this is a great game.
