It might not have the flair of a few other games on the market, but it has strong bones that can grow over time.

LawBreakers is an interesting mix of Tribes: Ascend and Overwatch. If you are tired of Blizzard's online shooter, you definitely need to try it.

Nimble, graceful, and original, LawBreakers' movement sets it apart from other FPSes despite a few aesthetic weaknesses.

It doesn’t have the colourful personality of Overwatch, but give Lawbreakers a chance. Get beyond the steep learning curve and you’ll find a team-based shooter packed with smart ideas and interesting mechanics, where great movement capabilities and a fine mix of weapons keep the action furious and fun. If you’re looking for an online FPS where skill and speed matter, Lawbreakers has what it takes.

While its character design is nothing groundbreaking, the focus on individual skill and quick reaction times make for a stimulating and entertaining experience. If you are prepared to overcome a relatively high skill cap, LawBreakers adds just enough flavor to the genre to warrant your attention.

There’s a firm foundation for a great competitive shooter here, but the rest of the house needs to be built on it sooner rather than later. LawBreakers needs ultra-skilled players to come in and show the rest of us what’s possible, but they need a competitive format to entice them in. Until that happens it’s a dizzying and consistently exciting shooter, but one whose long-term appeal isn’t yet locked in.

Boss Key Productions' first crack at making a first-person shooter has resulted in something that stands out from the competition, scratching the itch of players looking for a classic arcade shooter experience, with the benefits of modern game design.

Given the unique demands of anti-gravity gameplay, the PC version's comprehensive yet concise tutorials turn out to be crucial for onboarding new users. That makes their puzzling omission from the PS4 version disappointing.

Lawbreakers is an excellent game if you’re looking for an online FPS where skill and speed matter.

Exciting and very unique shooter for sophisticated players, that mainly lacks mode variation.

Lawbreakers is a fresh new FPS with some room for improvement, but so far it’s a neat experience. For the price of 30,- euro’s you’ll have hours and hours of fun.

So LawBreakers is easy to recommend to those with nostalgia for the arena shooters of the late ‘90s. Its less-than-alluring presentation hasn’t exactly earned the game a massive following, so when I say as someone raised on Unreal Tournament that this is the real deal, I hope someone heeds my advice. LawBreakers deserves a chance.

A successful experiment.

If you are looking for a fresh new multiplayer arena shooter experience, LawBreakers is great at blazing its own zero-g path, and does so at a $30 “budget” price. That’s if you’re looking. With more open-ended multiplayer shooters available than ever, you may be fine with the shooter you’ve got.

No matter what comes next, Lawbreakers is a success. It's proof, among other things, that veteran design talent really does mean something - and that the shooters of the late '90s still have something to teach the modern game industry. This is more than nostalgia: it's a paean to the genre's potential, performed by people who know it well.

LawBreakers is a very good online shooter that distinguishes itself with a couple of original, spot-on ideas. What makes it trail behind Overwatch are disappointingly forgettable characters.

IGN August 15, 2017
In its best game modes, LawBreakers manages to make simply moving around feel amazing. Learning how to fall with style in the most deadly way possible is a thrilling challenge. Getting stuck playing a weak mode and map thanks to the grab-bag matchmaking can be frustrating, but it doesn’t ruin an otherwise fast and tense shooter that lets you gleefully propel yourself through low-gravity with rocket boots and miniguns.

Even though LawBreakers has a promising potential, the innovation it brought to gameplay may not be pleasing for everyone.

GameStar August 16, 2017
At the first glance, Lawbreakers appears insane and soulless, a huge drawback with the mass of current multiplayer shooters and the high competitive pressure. It would be a pity to dismiss Lawbreakers so easily: fans of competitive shooters could miss a real pearl here, which with free new maps, modes and heroes may become even better.

Lawbreakers is a frenetic and fast-paced shooter. The game deserves a try even if it's dedicated only to skilled players. We hope that the community will grow quickly with Boss key focused on releasing new content as quickly as possible.
