Perhaps most impressive though is the level of polish found here...characters are quick to bounce back if they do happen to get stuck on the destructible environment, and the environmental and level design has been tweaked to perfection, eliminating a lot of the series' problems.

I absolutely endorse picking up LEGO The Lord of the Rings, whether you're a big fan of the film series or the LEGO games. Your appreciation of the story will certainly hinge on whether you're a LOTR fan or not, but regardless of that you'll still have a whole lot of fun with this unique video game adaptation. It's a blast to play through in single player and in local co-op, and despite a busy holiday season for gaming, really shouldn't be missed.

Charming and delightful, faithful to the source yet cheekily irreverent, and packed with features that feed into each other in satisfying ways, The Lord of the Rings marks yet another highpoint in the Lego series.

Where other LEGO games already did really well, this game tops all of them. The story is told like it is, but with a lot of funny moments. The game looks great and the open world it offers only adds to the fun. This is truly one brick to rule them all.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is a superb platformer with many stealth and puzzle sections. The game has some minor flaws, but all in all, LEGO LotR is the best game from the "brick" series. Excellent atmosphere, a diverse and pleasant gameplay - all that guarantees a high quality game. It's no revolution, but the developers have taken steps in the right direction that allow to think about an even brighter future for virtual LEGO bricks. And this is good news for all gamers in general.

LEGO Lord Of The Rings is another in a long line of classic LEGO games. It is fun and accessible. It is easy to lose an entire evening to its charms. It is the most well rounded of the LEGO titles too, whether a fan of the books or films, or not. It is one game to rule them all.

Lego Lord of the Rings is a great retelling of a great story. With tons of hours to be had in both Story Mode and Free Roam, this isn't just another high point for the series, but perhaps the best Lord of the Rings-inspired game to date.

Overall, LEGO The Lord of the Rings is easily recommendable to anyone who's enjoyed LEGO games in the past or who has a love of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It does such a good job of creating a LEGO version of The Lord of the Rings, that I can only hope that a LEGO The Hobbit is in the works to accompany the new film trilogy.

Overall, LEGO Lord of the Rings is a precious addition to the LEGO series. The game manages to keep the same charm and humour of the previous titles, and the new features are all very welcome.

This Lego adaptation is by far the best block adventure yet to come. Although the game still suffers from the trademark issues of Traveller's Tales, the package is a solid adventure. The Middle Earth is available for roaming, the levels are constructed with care and the overall feel of the game is excellent.

Lord of the Rings was a supreme candidate for the Lego treatment, and Traveller's Tales has put together the perfect set of gameplay elements to complement the license they were working with.

Game Over Online December 4, 2012
In the end, LEGO The Lord of the Rings is fantastic – very possibly one of the best LEGO games made to date. The level design is ingenious and unique despite using the same tried and true techniques we've seen before. I like how different situations call for unique strategies. I also appreciated the risk taken since there is no central hub.

A huge, glorious love-in of the films - but one Lego newbies may find overwhelming.

A handful of technical stumbles can't keep Lego Lord of the Rings from being the best Lego game so far. Finding a great compromise between the linear installments and the sprawling open world of Lego Batman 2, Traveller's tales hits sweet spots in the structure and gameplay, constantly giving players new goals and new places to explore.

Lego The Lord of the Rings is perhaps the finest treasure that the partnership has yet produced, a compelling mixture of cooperative gameplay, secrets galore, and a story that remains one of the most fantastic that Hollywood has ever captured on film.

Not only is Lego The Lord of the Rings an immense and entertaining piece of content with great cooperative play and a boat load of secrets and unlockables, it also makes an excellent first impression to kids and adults alike who have yet to experience this epic literary series.

The best adventure based on The Lord of the Rings. Long, fun, beautiful and close to the movies. If you're a LOTR fan then go ahead and buy it. If you're not, give it a try –it's great.

An excellent action adventure game based on Peter Jackson´s The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Both fans of the saga and newbies alike will enjoy this new trip through Middle Earth.

While the gameplay will seldomly challenge any experience gamer, there is a definite appeal due to the simplicity and sense of achievement with all of the hidden extras.
