If you've felt that the series has started to get a little stale, on the other hand, then I think Midnight Carnival will be the game for you. The game is full of great level designs with a difficulty to match, and the challenge makes it a far more addictive experience than the previous two titles for me.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival is a fantastic addition to the ever increasing PSP library. It’s smart, well balanced, packed with content and a penny under twelve quid is actually pretty good value.

The difficulty is steep enough to challenge even the best players, and the more platforming-oriented layout of these 16 new levels changes things up a bit. You'll clock quite a few hours trying to master these tricky courses, possibly cursing out the BuiBui's ingeniously sneaky, constructive creativity in the process.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival is a wonderful title and a great addition to the PSP line up. This series can do no wrong and just seems to get better each time. Highly Recommended.

A game with visuals this simple really doesn't have any right to look this good. It might be a trickier experience than fans are used to, but it's still a joy to play. It's not as good as the previous two games, but at a budget price it's still a game few PSP owners will be disappointed by.

The PSP's most cheerful game returns with an interesting, if very difficult, new take on the original.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival is more than worth the sub-$20 price tag. Fans new and old will enjoy the hours of gameplay provided. But be warned: although the controls are simple and the levels short, this is by no means an easy game.

Midnight Carnival brings the series closer to adulthood. The difficulty has been raised quite a bit and the game offers much more of a challenge. The Boing!-move is also a very handy addition in the open levels. There’s not much new here, but it’s worth every penny for every fan of platformers.

While Midnight Carnival ends too soon, it's a smile-inducing side trip that's worth downloading on your PSP or PSP Go.

A new direction for LocoRoco that can't match the originals.

By no means is Midnight Carnival a bad game. The problems with it lie in the fact that it is just too difficult to be enjoyed by a wide audience. The new challenge, interesting multiplayer and the incentives brought with a world-wide leader-board are perfect additions for long time fans. The extremely difficult challenge and frustration most people will have with nearly every level will only give newcomers the wrong impression on what this series is actually about.

It may be best to just check out the demo for Midnight Carnival to see if you’re interested in plucking down any money on a LocoRoco game and then going from there since any of the three games offer a good time.

While the title feels a bit disconnected from the franchise, the in-game store packs tons of meaningless items and multiplayer isn’t particularly engaging, LocoRoco is still a good game to play, assuming that you’re willing to put up with its frustrating difficulty curve.

LocoRoco Midnight Carnival got a few improvements compared to the last part. But is isn’t really a new game but more an expansion. The game is still pretty cool and a well start for new players. Veterans have seen all this before except the few improvements. Those aren’t really shocking after all.

While maintaining the sugary sweet style of its inventive forerunners, LocoRoco Midnight Carnival braves new gameplay that has sticky points preventing it from being as grand.

A quirky platformer.

Bouncing through the levels of LocoRoco Midnight Carnival is quite fun.
