Lust From Beyond is another horror game with good ideas executed in a limited way because it comes from a small studio. It stands out for its concept and the game is even a surprise in several aspects. It's a complete, terrifying and varied experience that fulfills horror fans demands even when it does not bring new mechanics.

Lust from Beyond is a more-than-average first person adventure dealing with difficult topics, such as psychiatric diseases, sexuality and the very idea of a cult based exclusively on physical pleasure. It does so by building an almost convincing narrative structure, without skimping on the crude representation of sex and violence, managing to maintain a difficult balance with all the other components of the game. The technical quality, however, is fluctuating, with 3D models that seem to come out of some game 20 years ago, animations at the limit of decency and sudden "coughs" of the script.

Lust from Beyond is an overall successful title that pushed us to continue, despite the presence of the combat sections.

Despite its flaws, Lust from Beyond is an inspired adventure horror game that utilizes its atmosphere to deliver a unique experience. The world itself is compelling, and the horror is great up until the conclusion. For the price of admission, I would say that this is still worth your time as long as you enjoy the journey more than the destination.

Lust from Beyond is one of those few games that can eventually gain cult status thanks to an interesting story ideas and shocking themes, even for a modern player.

The developers have made a huge step forward since their previous work, Lust for Darkness, and delivered an ambitious game that is better in every aspect. There’s still plenty of room for improvement, but engaging story and disturbing atmosphere make Lust from Beyond worth your time. If you can stomach an erotic horror with some twisted imagery, that is.

Lust from Beyond is a different kind of survival horror, but is held back by a bad AI and simplistic level design.

Lust From Beyond is not going to be for everyone, and fortunately, the game has two, free prequels you can play, both of which are completely unique stories, yet intertwined to the overall Lust story. These prequels will give players a proper look and feel for what Lust From Beyond has to offer, so if you enjoy them, you’ll definitely enjoy Lust From Beyond. While there were some frustrating bits throughout Lust From Beyond, I genuinely want to see the franchise continue.

A bigger budget, more player-agency and a more expansive world are all that's holding this back from being groundbreaking. And a lot of learnings will be taken from this latest outing.

Not recommended… unless survival horror with a sexual horror twist is your thing.

A disturbing game, based on the works of HP Lovecraft, with interesting gameplay mechanics and artistic influences, but some technical issues. We like the use of explicit elements in order to make the player uncomfortable.

It’s still by no means a masterpiece. (As soon as you include imagery of people defecating on each other for pleasure the word ‘masterpiece’ must, of course, be immediately discarded), but it is a vastly improved experience over the original. Not only have there been significant upgrades made to the gameplay, it also delves much deeper into every aspect of the story: from the land of ecstasy, ‘Lusst’ghaa, its inhabitants, history, and eventual downfall; to the different cults, their leaders, beliefs and motivations.

Lust from Beyond is an erotic and cosmic horror. Thanks to its sound design and visual details it starts with a thrilling mystery. Sadly the pacing changes fast and the game asks the player to do some repetitive tasks, over and over again, becoming too predictable and tedious. The plot is overall good but the dialogues and writing needs to be more subtle and mature to fit well in the psychological horror genre.

Lust from Beyond tells a thoughtful, albeit unapologetically disturbing, story. Its puzzles won’t leave you stumped for long, its action and stealth aren’t particularly engaging, and a number of technical issues are sure to cause frustration, but if you have a strong stomach for this particular brand of erotic horror, the excellent world-building and grotesque imagery will reward those who see it through.

As bold, or unique the horror-meets-sex concept might be, the execution here is far from excellent… or great, or very good, to be honest. Lust from Beyond is a decent adventure, for sure, with a neat dose of Lovecraft in it as well. While it has its moments, it isn't really very effecting at being scary of discomforting, with the gameplay certainly being the least enjoyable aspect of it all. It's easy to find a lot worse in the realm of indie horror games, so if a big fan of the genre, do try it out if you get the chance to find it really cheap, just don't expect something that will stay with you for long.

You know, I still don’t get how Lovecraft is included in this. The only connection I’ve spotted was the shape of a man’s nose on the loading screen. If the developers didn’t claim such credit, everything would be so much better. One cannot help but view this as a means to draw attention to a mediocre game. Such a pity, since it’s got great flow. A nice parody could be made, as I stated before. But alas, the developers are as serious as ever. I never thought that I would complain about that.

The creators of Lust from Beyond had a quite interesting vision with this unique erotic-horror adventure, that sadly falls flat due to an obsolete game design and many technical problems.

If you’re sensible, please, for the love of God spend your time and money on literally anything else. Lust From Beyond will derive no joy, only misery and lethargy.

Lust From Beyond is a game that uses sex and nudity that take place on screen as a claim. Unfortunately, his proposal is completely inconsistent in the rest of its sections, being even disgusting in many of its segments. It is very difficult for me to be able to save the game elsewhere, and I honestly believe that if you have plans to get hold of it for the pretext of having an erotic adventure in your catalog, I am sure that you will find better options. As a puzzle game it can convince the less demanding, however, the rest of its mechanics do not achieve what they set out to do. A title to avoid.
