A very funny game that will also give you feels. It will take you about nine hours to complete, and you’ll have a blast doing so.

I’ve been lukewarm about most of Telltale’s games lately, but I really liked Guardians of the Galaxy. It handles the transition between jokes and drama well, your decisions are tougher and more meaningful than you usually see, the writing and voice acting are excellent, and the action sequences are simple and infrequent enough that they don’t derail the game. So if you haven’t played a Telltale game in a while, Guardians of the Galaxy is certainly one to check out.

Telltale’s premiere season for their take on the Guardians of the Galaxy proves to be an enjoyable one, as the stellar soundtrack and combat sequences prove to be the high points of the occasionally humorous adventure. A little fine tuning from the dialogue and engine could have gone a long way, but as it is, Telltale’s adaptation of the dysfunctional space family is one worth checking out for fans of the movies or comics, or those looking for a lighthearted sci-fi adventure.

There’s a lot of little details that reflect your past choices. You won’t notice them the first time around, of course, but you may very well miss them on subsequent playthroughs – they’re worked into narrative that well. On the flipside, we have same old shortcomings: worn-out engine and QTEs that serve no purpose but to check if the player is still there.

The renowned but lately overused Telltale formula works with Guardians, but don’t expect it to be as entertaining as the movies. The direction is spot on, the story is okay, but lacks the punch.

Telltale has barely changed their interactive story approach for Guardians of the Galaxy, but that’s not such a bad thing. With a solid application of humor, fun combat sequences, and a well-realised cast, they have forged a bold space adventure.

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is a series that doesn't change in any way the Telltale's style. The game mixes the comicality of the brand with a more adult and sentimental side, a choice that can be appreciated by a lot of players, but not by all of them. Anyway the title is definitely a good purchase for all those loving the Marvel's galactic heroes and the narrative style of the Californian developers.
