Megaton Rainfall is a nice surprise for everyone who dreamed about being a superhero. You will appreciate it whether you have a PlayStation VR set or not.

A thunderously stylish arcade shooter with spectacle to spare, Megaton Rainfall is a must-have for PSVR owners.

Megaton Rainfall may not be the most immersive VR experience out there, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun to play and often jaw-dropping to behold. It’s a new type of superhero game that comes up with an elegant solution to the problem of giving the player too much power and is always waiting to show you new ideas. In terms of sheer playability, it’s one of the best games to hit PSVR in a while.

Superhero Jesus meets the Ravagers of Earth Defense Force. In VR. Yeah, you're sold on it. Megaton Rainfall is fabulous.

At a purely content level, this is not a very rich experience, but the unusual gameplay and the highly competitive price (15.99 euros) make it an independent title not to underestimate.

Megaton Rainfall lasts only 2-3 hours and in VR mode the motion sickness can be overwhelming, but still it’s a very funny game in god-like style and the pace is simply wild.

Megaton Rainfall is, in more ways than one, the perfect superhero simulator, making players understand that special powers can do way more harm than good. With a short but very sweet campaign, an engaging story, and a good gameplay variety, Megaton Rainfall is a new take on the arcade shooter genre that no fan of the genre should pass on.

Megaton Rainfall is more of an experience than a game and one I soon won't forget. It's short, and simple, but asks a good question of the player while also giving him or her plenty of action. It's better with VR, but worth a look in for just about everyone.

The clear desire to push the boundaries of both the technology and the genre has paid off, as Megaton Rainfall offers immersive, enjoyable and impressive gameplay with PSVR. If you own one of Sony’s headsets and are tired of on-rails experiences, I’d encourage you to dive straight in.

Megaton Rainfall is an interesting title, it hands the player overpowered abilities and a huge sandbox to play in but forces the player to restrain themselves by making collateral damage the key to success or failure. I had hours of fun exploring the universe, checking out landmarks and discovering secrets out in the galaxy between fighting off waves of alien enemies. Unfortunately I have to mark Megaton Rainfall down for its mission-breaking bugs, however this title is a refreshing experience and a fun one at that. I recommend just taking some time to sit quietly and absorb the experience that is Megaton Rainfall.

Megaton Rainfall is based on a simple yet intriguing concept: making us feel like gods capable of flying at a super-high speed. And it succeeds in doing so. This, along with its refined and fresh gameplay, makes the game easy to recommend to anyone who has a Playstation VR.

While Megaton Rainfall doesn’t have the most impressive graphics, it still manages to impress with the sheer audaciousness of its scope, and at its best, it feels more like a true superhero experience than any game I’ve ever played. Two of its nine missions may be frustrating slogs, but that isn’t such a bad ratio when the other seven are stellar simulations.

Megaton Rainfall delivers a unique VR experience that will make you feel like a superhero. However, graphics are mediocre and without a VR headset the game is definitely not worth it.

Megaton Rainfall is the kind of superhero game I’ve always wanted to play, and even if it’s not perfect, it’s still an interesting step in the right direction for the genre as a whole.

Megaton Rainfall gives you the entire planet to take care of and, while it can be an overwhelming responsibility at times, it’s one that I find myself stepping up to time and time again.

To truly get that cosmic Superman feeling, this is one game you want to play in virtual reality.

While Megaton Rainfall may have bitten off more than it can chew in regards to the stage it takes place on, the alien-fighting action is a fantastic spectacle. Buildings crumble dynamically, shockwaves ripple the earth, zippy little enemies fly out of massive motherships and I even failed a mission once when a laser cut the entire planet in half. The enemies are constantly changing, with new ones showing up all the way to the final mission, and while there are only nine missions total each one is memorable. The only truly weak part is the story, which left me hoping there’s an alternate ending somewhere I haven’t seen yet. With the size of the universe away from Earth it’s hard to imagine that all the action is focused on one little globe circling a yellow star on the outside of an arm of a pretty galaxy. More likely, though, it’s the mark of a good game that, when the fighting is done and all that’s left is score attack and Hard mode, it still leaves you wanting another epic battle against the destructive alien threat.

Megaton Rainfall checks the immense power of a god with the civil responsibility of an altruist. It's a strong pairing, and one that only fails through the volatile application of its singularity. Playing god can be exhausting when you're only capable of indistinct destruction.

Megaton Rainfall is a game of incredible scale and there aren’t many titles that let you go off exploring a large universe quite like this, when you aren’t blasting alien invaders out of the sky. In VR it is quite a spectacle, though that can’t shield it from the fact that it’s quite a basic shooting gallery experience whether on TV or in VR. Megaton Rainfall is very much worth checking out if you have VR, but even without that side of things you have a decent enough superhero simulator.

To play Megaton Rainfall is to inhabit a flying superhero like nothing else in VR.
