While the turn-based card battlin' combat might sound like the antithesis of edge-of-your-seat gaming, give Ac!d 2 a couple of hours of your undivided attention and I guarantee you'll be up to your eyes and ears in white-knuckle action.

It's fluid, vivid and with as much depth as you want. A delight.

With a ton of new features including The Solid Eye, improvements to the graphics, the huge improvement in the amount of cards you can have, all in all I think that Metal Gear Ac!d 2 will not only appeal to fans of Metal Gear Ac!d series, but anyone who enjoys tactical strategy games and doesn't mind the cartoonish graphics.

Snake is back, but don’t let his fluffy, forgettable story fool you; he brought a lot of game with him. If you think “owning them all” is a pastime reserved for small children, you are wrong.

While MGA2 is a lot more newbie friendly, it still requires a fair bit of strategy.

Factor in all of the unlockable goodies and the innovative 3D effects, and you've got yet another genre-defining experience out of Kojima Productions that sits alongside games like Boktai as true boundary-pushing efforts.

While it was easy to shut off the first game only to come back later and forget where you were, MGA2 keeps the objectives close by and your motivation memorable.

It's more action-driven, the setting feels more natural, and the gameplay has been refined enough that I think it could seriously hook MGS fans looking for something tide them over between Metal Gear Online matches or kill time until "MGS4" finally arrives.

Whereas Metal Gear Acid faltered slightly in its attempt to branch the MGS franchise out into a bold new direction, Acid 2 absolutely nails the concept with engaging turn-based strategy gameplay, a refined interface, quicker pacing, stylized graphics and an abundance of replay value, among other noteworthy attributes.

Outside of the Solid Eye feature, the game’s story is much better this time out, the combat system improved, the graphics far better looking, and the game filled to the brim with imposing bosses and intense combat.

A great strategy game, and its gameplay keeps the Metal Gear spirit close to heart, despite radical differences. MGS fan or not, this is much better than the first, and it will probably be the last.

The whole presentation of the game reeks of "acid trip" and I guess this was the intention of the producer. But still the original intention of a suitable tactical game is present and is a pleasure to spend my hours playing.

Tactical games never had it so good in the Ac!d series.

A stylish and unqiue game definitely worthy in the highly successful franchise. Its frustrating, yet successful card system, combined with challenging gameplay, excellent visuals, and funky soundtrack make a satisfying package for fans of the original Acid, strategy games, or something completely different.

There are more cards this time around, more gameplay options, more modes and more movies to collect. The presentation is top notch.

Essentially, if you like the way strategy games engage your faculty of forethought and resource management, then MGA2 will be (at least) a 30-hour trip into grid-based nirvana.

PSM Magazine May 31, 2024
In the end, the meat of the game is easier to get into and far less nit-picky, while still providing an excellent strategic kicck.

PGNx Media May 31, 2024
Metal Gear Acid 2 features a lot of replay value thanks to the plethora of cards available.

WHAM! Gaming May 31, 2024
With the improved graphics, increased card selection and better mission design, Acid 2 stands well above what was already a unique and fantastic PSP experience.

Metal Gear Acid 2 is a great strategy game, and its gameplay keeps the Metal Gear spirit close to heart, despite radical differences. MGS fan or not, this is much better than the first and a recommended purchase.
