Metal: Hellsinger is a raunchy fest that combines frenetic demon slaying with heavy metal of the highest caliber. It is an extremely fun adventure that promises to stimulate all the cognitive skills of the modern gamer. It's a game your parents would never let you play.

Worth Playing September 12, 2022
I'm in love with Metal: Hellsinger. First and foremost, the mechanics feel precise, which is critical in a shooter and doubly so in a rhythm game. The music is its heart, and it is good to the point that the OST would be worth picking up on its own. The part that makes Metal: Hellsinger special is in how well it weaves the music, the themes, the action, and the unrelenting rhythm together. It's a non-stop barrage of, "you get to perform awesome things done to the beat of a fantastic metal soundtrack." I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game until the credits rolled, and it left me immediately wanting more.

Metal: Hellsinger features a perfect blend of frantic FPS action and rhythm, utilising different skillsets to make your way through hell. The music is excellent, the range of weapons are fun to use, and the gorgeous level design and visuals make this a must to play.

Metal: Hellsinger is an easy game to recommend—the music’s great, it feels really good to play, and it looks great. The only real caveat to all of this is that, if you’re not a fan of metal music, Metal: Hellsinger might not have much for you. While its combat is great, the music is what truly elevates it from being just another boomer shooter.

When you hit a streak on the beat, enemies melt before you and you race across the map, racking up eight- or nine-figure scores with ease. Sometimes you fall off a little, though, and start missing every shot as you struggle to find the rhythm. This is frustrating, but it’s meant to be. Once you stop, take a breath, and start shooting again – to the rhythm, this time – you soon find your groove again and everything makes sense. The shooting feels great again, the game flows perfectly again, the toughest enemies are felled again. In these moments, Metal: Hellsinger feels really special.

If you like Metal and fast paced shooter-games like Doom, Quake or Unreal Tournament, but without Multiplayer components, then this is your game. The movement is great, the rhythm based shooter gameplay feels fresh and the soundtrack is a blast! You can forget about the story, and if you search for secrets or special areas in the levels, you won´t find any. It´s all about the action and the music which is awesome. We can´t get enough of it.

I’m so glad Metal: Hellsinger ends with the promise of more to come because I already want more from this series.

In a way, it’s the FPS genre that grants players a kind of agency that rhythm games haven’t — the freedom and exhilaration of performance. You can execute kills to the beat of your internal pulse, with the act of shooting bodies and popping heads forming a pleasing rhythm. That’s why playing “Metal: Hellsinger” can almost feel like you’re holding the drumsticks yourself, as you blaze through demon hordes with a percussive flow of your own.

Some scattered FPS drops and behind-the-veil repetitiveness may hamper Metal: Hellsinger at times, but those infrequent hang-ups do little to detract from the overall experience The Outsiders have created. It's easy to say this game should inspire others to pursue this genre mashup, too, to create similar experiences, but The Outsiders got it so very right with Metal: Hellsinger that perhaps it's better to let this one marinate for a while before a truly creative iteration of this comes along.

Metal: Hellsinger is a pleasant blend of action and rhythm, allowing players to get lost in the mayhem of Hell. While a relatively short campaign might leave players wanting more, what’s already there is an excellent package that fans of rhythm and action will immediately agree is a classic. Metal: Hellsinger will be singing for years to come, and hopefully, there will be some new songs on the horizon.

Metal: Hellsinger is an interesting hybrid between FPS and rhythm game that sounds like a real Love Letter to the great classics like Doom. Its gameplay and music come together in a combination of violence and adrenaline in which it is easy to get lost.

Metal: Hellsinger has absolutely kickstarted the boomer-shooter, rhythm FPS genre. Of the handful of issues the game possesses, they're all overshadowed by its insane amount of entertainment value. There's no doubt that The Outsiders have created something extraordinary, something that absolutely needs a sequel. Although very challenging and not without its critiques, its an extremely satisfying experience through and through.

Metal: Hellsinger aims to be a full-featured first-person shooter as well as an engaging rhythm game, and I am so glad it delivers on its ambition rather than falling flat. Fun, frantic combat paired with a crushingly heavy, star-studded soundtrack makes Metal: Hellsinger one of the most unexpectedly enjoyable games I have played this year, and I urge anyone with a passing interest in metal or shooters to give this a spin.

Metal: Hellsinger is a shooter diabolically fun that focuses on a high speed action where rhythm and music are the core of the experience, and power it up with lots of mechanics that make it even deeper. The problem is that it has few levels and everything revolves around getting the highest score in the ranking, and not shooter fans love that.

If you enjoyed BPM: Bullets Per Minute, you must know that Metal: Hellsinger is better in every aspect. It’s stellar soundtrack alone is worth checking out, but it’s not the game’s only advantage, because it’s also got great pace, well-designed mechanics and hellishly satisfying gunplay. But why is the campaign so short?!

Metal: Hellsinger is definitely worth your time. Because of the music, the carnage, and the very unusual gameplay with tons of potential (even though it is a short game).
