The ideal Metro 2033 player is someone looking for something new, something immersive and something really, really hard. If you fit that description, we cannot recommend Metro 2033 highly enough.

Regardless of how the story ends the experience itself is worth the price of admission.

Novel and videogame join to compose a very interesting proposal in the saturated first person action genre.

A brilliantly atmospheric shooter with forgivably imperfect gunplay. Stick with it.

Metro 2033’s greatest success is the consistency of its pacing. You’re constantly encountering new factions, discovering interesting new locations, or being tasked to do something you haven’t done before.

Metro 2033 is a well-scripted shooter in a highly atmospheric post apocalyptic world. Well done, THQ!

Metro 2033 is Stalker done right. Gone are the half-working sandbox elements and infuriatingly underpowered weapons. Instead Metro delivers an expertly paced train ride though the spooky post-apocalyptic underbelly of Moscow. The English voiceovers are horrible, but in the end that doesn't really matter. Great game.

At the end of the day, I thoroughly enjoyed Metro 2033 which was quite a unique first person shooter and proves that this genre can have a very good storyline, just like BioShock.

On a very basic level it's little more than a conventional corridor shooter, however, it's draped in such atmospheric finery you'll hardly notice.

4A Games leaves you no choice but to engage with the gameplay of Metro 2033 because of its dark tone and great story. Hardcore gamers looking for a unique experience in Xbox 360 ultimately will be rewarded by this atmospheric and fast-paced shooter.

An incredible FPS experience, mixed with survival horror elements. Great graphics and a good plot (by the Russian author Dimitry Glukovsky) make this the shooter to have these days; don't miss it!

In spite of its linearity and scarce longevity, METRO 2033 captures the player thanks to its strong, dark atmosphere and a gameplay that wisely mixes FPS and Action elements. Graphically surprising (especially the PC version), it’ll keep you playing for hours on end… like a good book.

If post-nuclear apocalyptic thrillers are your thing, then Metro 2033 should be on your “must buy” list.

For those looking for a game with an immersive and riveting storyline, many gripping intense moments, a slick array of original weaponry, and some terrific nightmarish shooter sequences, then Metro 2033 is right up your alley.

Metro 2033 lacks some of the polish we're used to seeing in AAA FPS efforts such as Modern Warfare 2. However, considering it pretty much came out of nowhere, it stands as a decent first effort in what I hope will be a continuing franchise.

In my opinion all the games shortcomings are well and truly made up for by what the game does right. The world of Metro 2033 is painstakingly constructed with design elements skilfully integrated with the gameplay.

The idea behind the game was brilliant, the implementation could've been better.

4A Games created a top-quality game that stands up to the massive competition coming from Western developers and publishers. We are looking forward to anything new these guys come up with in future.

Despite the amazing storytelling experience that easily feeds the craving for postapocalyptic adventures, whether or not the sci-fi story is worth the full sticker price largely depends on how long you'll want to stay in Metro 2033's world.
