Good, clean fun. A solid concept, great execution and a ton of reasons to play again and again mean that this is a title that no PS2 owner could easily pass up.

An extensive multiplayer mode, a track editor and the ability to trade vehicles online ensure almost infinite longevity and top off a title which is a micro masterpiece in its own right.

When it's all said and done, Micro Machines V4 proves to be a wonderfully addicting and simple game wrapped in a quaint little package.

So ignore the significantly-improved-yet-still--not-quit-brilliant single-player mode and bear in mind that this is a game that demands at least two people of roughly equal ability, preferably more.

Micro Machines V4 is bloody brilliant. That's all you really need to know.

I thoroughly enjoyed Micro Machines V4, probably because of the heavy dosage of nostalgia that it administered to me, but also because the developers obeyed the golden rule of retro game reiteration: provide the gamer with a modern day standard game whilst maintaining the elements they loved from the original, something that is not at all easy to do.

The graphics aren't much either, but the tracks are well designed and there's a genuine sense of fun here.

Save it for multi-player and you'll have a lot of fun - but there are too many niggles to make it a classic.

I’m not embarrassed to say that I really liked Micro Machines V4. After playing all of the more serious games that come my way, this was a pleasantly mindless, yet challenging diversion that showed some real ingenuity, especially in the visionary track designs and great use of scale.

A surprisingly deep little racer that, while not without its problems, offers quite a decent trip down a virtual racetrack.

Micro Machines V4 is a worthy part of a traditionally sublime racing series, but its appeal mostly lies with the party gamer set. And sometimes that's enough.

By far, the best part of Micro Machines v4 is the level design. There are oodles of levels to speed through, such as a butcher's shop, a pool table, and a hair salon.

Micro Machines v4 doesn't stray one bit from its own gene pool and certainly doesn't impress on any level other than mindless, guilty arcade racing, but sometimes that's vastly preferable to all the stat-heavy, mod-crazy options out there.

The cars are simplistic, out-detailed even by their real life plastic counterparts. The tracks are colorful and filled with interactive objects, but this won't be mistaken for next-generation gaming.

Through the variety of single player challenges, multiplayer action, and sheer number of Micro Machines to unlock, there's a lot to do here, but the game may frustrate many with its slightly unhelpful camera and constant need to get the handling nailed down in several areas.

Offering a commedably laid-back and tongue-in-cheek driving experience, slick multiplayer racers make v4 well worth a spin.

When alone, there are plenty of races and time trial competitions to play but having to replay challenges over and over in order to progress is frustrating.

Micro Machines V4’s only genuine problem is its overbearing similarity to "Mashed," a game that can be bought for a third of the price.

Just stay away from the single player mode entirely - it's nowhere near as satisfying as racing your pals through a rustic, old chicken coop.

The game looks decent too; just prepare to struggle a bit with the perspective.
