Microsoft Flight Simulator offers hotfixes and advice to improve the game's stability
Microsoft Flight Simulator has not been launched without issues, but developers have released a fix to some of the crashes. There's an important tweak you need to make if playing on PC.
If you play on PC, outdated community packages may have an unexpected effect on the title's behavior and performance. If you experience stability issues or long load times, move the community package(s), before relaunching your title. This is according to Asobo Studio.
The hotfix also contains the following changes:
- Stability and Performance
- Fixes a crash that occurred when you selected "As Arrival".
- After changing the Drone Focus Mode option to something other than undefined, the Camera menu could crash.
- Fixes various crashes in the title
- General Bug Fixes
- Fix missing cursor in Xbox Live Sign-in Popup
- Fix for a problem where you might lose focus when creating a brand new input profile.
- The control menu allows you to select an aircraft, but only from the home page.
- Fixes a problem where you could get stuck if you tried to access the menu bar when on any help page.
Flight Simulator has been a huge success. So popular that we can use one of the evergreen gaming headlines. I think that the release day for MSFS 2024 was pretty bad.
It's getting better, as per the hotfix above. And since a few days back, there is no longer a queue.
Microsoft Flight Simulator's head Jorg Neumann said a few weeks ago that "[W]e were aware of the excitement for Microsoft Flight Simulator, but we totally underestimated just how high it was. It has really overwhelmed our infrastructure."
MSFS 2024 streams a large number of its game assets in real time from the cloud, which allows the installation size to be smaller and system requirements to be leaner. However, this means that servers must work overtime. Neumann and the studio CEO Sebastian Wloch explained that they had prepared for 200,000 users streaming game assets in real-time during testing. However, the system was not prepared for the highs Asobo experienced.
