Its fresh twist on the traditional racing model and creative gameplay make this one of the few titles in a flooded genre that really stands out.

Daily Radar May 30, 2024
The graphics are very impressive, the sense of speed is downright frightening (especially when played from the cockpit of the car) and the graphics are an amazing amalgam of detail and functionality.

Cincinnati Enquirer May 30, 2024
Instead of flying over hills and sometimes jumping into buildings, as you do in "Rush," MC keeps the racing more down-to-earth.

IGN May 30, 2024
In addition to the litany of cars, the huge cities are riddled with secrets and original ways to make shortcuts, which makes single player gameplay and two-player games extremely fun.

GameSpot May 30, 2024
An extremely fun arcade-style racer.

Midnight Club is "Driver" with ten times the graphics and one half the fun.

They've definitely provided you with huge maps on which to race and some tough opponents to race against, but the whole city looks drab and plain.

The score gets dragged down just a bit by the short length and some AI problems, but this is still a fun game.

GamerWeb Sony May 30, 2024
The sense of speed, the detailed graphics, and most of all, the fun makes this a great addition to the PS2 lineup.

The sense of speed and immersion is compelling, squealing around tight corners is a joy due to perfect control and the races themselves will keep players' knuckles white as they try to evade every day traffic while still outracing the cops and smashing their components into buildings.

The collision physics make flipping pedestrians over your car seem realistic, as well as barbarically satisfying.

Gaming Age May 30, 2024
A nice breakaway from the norm of arcade racing games, and is definitely worth a look for its impressive visuals and addictive (but sometimes a little on the frustrating side) gameplay.

The greatest shame about Midnight Club: Street Racing however is just how repetitive it can become.

If you’re looking for a fun, addictive arcade racer, where you can take devious shortcuts to get one over on your rivals, then look no further.

PSX Nation May 30, 2024
The best arcade racer on PS2.

Game Revolution May 30, 2024
While offering a decent helping of fun, the bland textures and ubiquitous gameplay make for a somewhat unexciting PS2 start.

CNET Gamecenter May 30, 2024
Unfortunately, while the game's premise is certainly intriguing, its fun is sorely limited due to a steep learning curve and lack of racing venues.

A poor plot, which never makes you feel that you're doing anything other than playing an average videogame.
