The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is like a good pie, the kind mothers used to make. It's warm and satisfying with a near-perfect consistency throughout. It might be appealing to try and devour all at once, but trying that may leave you with a bit of an ache. No, savor it. It's likely to be one of the best damn pies you're going to enjoy this year.

Powerful execution on all fronts along with an extremely reasonable price combine to make this game a must get for all fans of puzzlers, indie games, or excellent downloadable titles.

Problem-solving fans will find a lot to love about getting to the bottom or, often times, the top of P.B. Winterbottom’s elaborate puzzle designs.

My stomach growls in expectation of what else The Odd Gentleman has inside its oven. Be it pies, cakes, or sweets, I'm ready for more.

Braid may seem like the closest contemporary to Winterbottom, as time manipulation is key to each game's platform challenges, but World of Goo is a near-equal counterpart in my mind. Both offer devious challenges complemented by fantastically clever aesthetics, but regardless of which game makes the most sense as an existing touchstone, simply mentioning The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom in their company should say a lot about how worthwhile and refined a game The Odd Gentlemen have created.

Try it and you'll probably end up like me, telling your friends to play the game not just because it's a stylistic novelty, but because, like any good pie, it has both a delectable crust and a delicious filling, which make P.B. Winterbottom a memorable treat to enjoy.

The whimsical nature of the art, music, and replicating gameplay is not only a refreshing take on platforming/puzzling games, but it's an excellent brain-straining challenge to all those “thinking” gamers who can endure a little trial-and-defeat.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom impresses with its puzzle design, offbeat humor, and sheer style.

Smart games should be championed, not feared, and the mental challenges contained within this game are only more impressive once you solve them. Upon completing them, I felt as if I had truly conquered something. Of course, I also felt like I could really go for a nice piece of warm pie. Preferably a la mode.

While this may be a short-lived journey with the world's most notorious pie-thief, it's impossible not to find the experience endearing, fun, challenging, and rewarding. This is an XBLA download that is well worth its weight in pie.
