MLB 13: The Show can be tailored to emphasize whatever you like most about baseball. If you're a statistician, there are countless graphs and plenty of data to mine. Sluggers can swing to their hearts' content, laying the burden of pitching entirely on the CPU – or vice versa. However you want to play, whatever you want to play – it's all been accounted for with exceptional care.

A ton of love, care, and attention, not only to the fundamentals, but to what the fans have been clamoring for have been answered in spades. The end result is in not only the best version this series has seen, and not only the most authentic and realistic baseball game created to date, but easily one of the best sports games this reviewer has ever played.

In a world where some game franchises seem to just be releasing uninspired updates, MLB 13 The Show shows what happens when the developers really care about their game, both the video game and real world variety.

A triumph, MLB 13: The Show blasts the competition so far out of the park that the grazing cows out on the countryside get a souvenir. Every second of the game is exciting and enticing on different levels.

The Show retains its place atop the heap of not just baseball games but sports games of all stripes by offering the most options, the widest variety of ways to play and unparalleled customization. Just go get it already!

One of the modes that baseball fans will love is the ability to play any match-up from the season with live updated player stats and rosters.

New subtle animations were added to every aspect of this game, which creates an even more authentic depiction of America’s Greatest Pastime, and it’s hard to believe that this game could visually improve on Sony’s current console.

The beginner mode is perhaps the smartest move made and should invite plenty of new fans to the game.

It would be easy for Sony to rest on their laurels with this franchise, especially considering the downward spiral (and expiring contract) of their only competitor. Instead, they’ve continued to take pride in making sure that The Show is always at the top of its game.

A fantastic translation to games of America’s national pastime, baseball. Practically all facets of the popular sport can be found in the game, in a very realistic manner. This holds true for the players, who look great and are animated brilliantly. It’s almost as if you’re actually a part of the Major Leagues. For whoever wants to start playing with their own homemade player, the excellent Road to the Show-mode’s got you covered. There are a few sloppy mistakes, but that doesn’t affect the fun you’ll have in any way. Fun that can be had, not only by baseball-veterans, but also by newcomers.

The eighth instalment of The Show series pulls no squeeze plays on quality and realism when it comes to the game of baseball.

It may not be a huge leap over last year’s game but its satisfaction is almost endless.

2013’s The Show is the complete package: amazing visuals with the capacity to fool unsuspecting relatives that you’ve temporarily forgot what country you woke up in and are watching televised baseball, and incredibly nuanced gameplay that’ll sprout a Louisville Slugger in the trousers of ardent fans of what’s allegedly America’s favourite pastime.

The Show remains the most authentic sports series of all time. FIFA can't touch it.

PlayStation gamers who are also baseball fans are a lucky lot. MLB 13: The Show is another winner in a series that’s easily the best baseball sim since EA’s since-shuttered MVP Baseball line.

MLB 13: The Show is what a gamer wants out of a baseball title: A great presentation, a challenge both on the mound and at the plate, and plenty of features to entertain anyone for a long period of time.

MLB 13 The Show shows its continual dominance in the video game world of baseball. Though it's not perfect, it still makes all the right improvements and additions to keep the game fresh and interesting.

Sony’s MLB franchise continues to prove itself as the top dog in the virtual baseball world. Stunning visuals, silky smooth gameplay and an endless list of enhancements proves there is enough new here to justify the $60 dollar plunge.

Game Informer March 12, 2013
MLB 13: The Show turns the bats loose and finds stability online, but the numbers reflect MLB’s juiced era more than the pitcher-friendly league we see today. This year’s game is about making contact more consistently and shoring up the other aspects of a well-rounded baseball sim.

PSX Extreme March 7, 2013
MLB 13: The Show is a great simulator, there’s no doubt about it. Baseball aficionados will appreciate the huge amount of depth, reliable and responsive control, top-notch presentation, and added enhancements. The improvements are relatively minor and in general, this is essentially a slightly better version than last year’s game. But there’s nothing wrong with that.
