Monster Hunter Wilds has finally been given a release date. This will be the first time that the PC version of the game is released simultaneously.
Capcom can stop wasting time with the vague "2025" release window. Good news! Monster Hunter Wilds now has a date. Wilds will launch on PC on the same date as the console version, a first for the series. The date is 28 February 2025.
Capcom has done this before, but the Monster Hunter series is a first. Capcom's words around Wilds last summer suggested that the company was putting all its weight behind the PC, but some were worried PC might still have to wait.
The trailer that was shown today at PlayStation's State of Play didn't clear up the confusion. The trailer only mentioned the PS5 release date and the PS Blog post that accompanied it didn't mention other platforms. Capcom published a different version. Three platforms, only one date: 28 February.
Capcom's embrace of Monster Hunter PC makes sense if you have followed the rise of the series in recent years. After Wilds was revealed in 2023, PC players returned in droves to Monster Hunter World, contributing to its highest simultaneous player counts in three year. Nine months after its release, World hasn't dropped off the charts.
This trailer is a treasure trove of information for PC gamers who love Monster Hunter. This trailer is more story-driven than previous Wilds looks, and shows off Wilds' Scarlet Forest, Wilds' second area. Wilds will feature dynamic weather. We've seen the sandstorms in Wilds' first region. The Scarlet Forest, however, has a tropical cyclone that "batters the area, reducing visibility, and causing water currents surges," according to Capcom.
"After the storm, the sun shines brightly through the trees, bringing with it blue skies and water, as the plants and animals change ..."
Don't tell any more. I'm starting today to self-impose a Monster Hunter blackout that will last until February.
