Hooked Gamers

MOTHERGUNSHIP is a ton of fun. When you’ve built a lava-spewing dual minigun with a rocket launcher shooting ricocheting explosives in the middle of your 40th jump since touching the ground- and that’s only on one of your arms- it’s pretty hard not to smile. The game nails its tone, full of color, speed, and humor, and it doesn’t let off the gas pedal from start to finish. It’s not a perfect game, but it does what it needs to do, and I’d have an easy time recommending it to most.

When Mothergunship is firing on all cylinders, it's a satisfying and thrilling shooter where it really counts. With an incredibly fun and never uninteresting gun-crafting mechanic, it certainly goes a long way with its clever hook and an endless flow of enemies to gun down.

Mothergunship is a marvelous blend of roguelite randomness and self-serve zaniness, with a short but sweet campaign to kick it all off. All this presented with some of the best production values I've seen from a small-studio game. If you like what you see, you can rest assured that Mothergunship delivers.

Pick a pair of favorite weapons and a modifier for a standard run, attack a hell-mode ship with just a single gun and scavenge what you can along the way or maybe investigate the weird mystery ships that sometimes turn up to see what new oddity it will bring. Each run is a pure action romp through the heart of a robot-infested ship, packed so many bullets, lasers and other mechanical assault critters that it’s a wonder the aliens could lug it all to our solar system.

A successful mix of bullet hell, crafting and FPS with old school charm, but little variety.

Mothergunship is hectic, fast and feels very 90s, and if that is something that tickles your fancy, then there is no wrong in picking up Mothergunship and having a blast with its bullet-hell, roguelike, insane gun crafting blend of action until you become sick of it, at that point, hours will have passed and many robots will have gave their life for your frantic enjoyment.
Worth Playing

Your enjoyment of Mothergunship is going to be dependent on how much you liked Tower of Guns. Even though other games are starting to adopt the style, the fast pace is still refreshing, and the enemy variety could be better. Players will have tons of fun trying to make up new and ridiculous guns, but they'll also curse the game when it becomes so hard that they lose all of the parts they worked so hard to get. Mothergunship looks and sounds great, and with new modes and items coming in from future patches, there's still some enjoyment to be had after defeating the game. For shooting fans, Mothergunship is well worth checking out.

Dumb, fun, and not ashamed to be either. Mothergunship just wants to fill the screen with bullets.

MOTHERGUNSHIP is a strong step forward compared to Tower of Guns, with a very well made weapon creation system and an even more spectacular action core. Unfortunately we also found a certain repetitiveness in the game's structure, but fans of intense action and arcade taste will hardly be disappointed.

There are some odd and annoying design decisions, and it can feel frustrating to rarely get to really let loose with the gun creations, but damn if I don't keep coming back to go through a few ships and see what destruction I can cause.

Mothergunship is not flawless, but its fast-paced gameplay really makes the difference. Mothergunship mixes some good elements of other FPS titles with its own innovations such as great weapon-making system, and provides a unique and very fun experience.

Mothergunship is a very interesting game, with a frenetic bullet-hell FPS gameplay, although it ends up feeling a little bit repetitive and empty.

Hard and fun for some hours, with some big boss to beat, Mothergunship loses its appeal on the long distance.

Mothergunship is an absolute blast in short bursts, but risks becoming repetitive in extended sessions. If you like the thought of crafting the most outrageous weapons possible, it’s definitely worth your time.

The action is fast, spectacular and satisfying, but also short (especially for a roguelike), because I finished the campaign in around six hours and was left with a bland challenge mode.

Mothergunship might not have been made with my specific gaming tastes in mind. But when a game tries so hard to tell me how to play and, worse, punishes me so harshly when I fail, I just can’t for the life of me imagine that any sort of gamer could find long-term enjoyment out of what it offers.

While the core mechanics of Mothergunship are awesome (gunplay, shooting, level design, pace in battle) and the performance is great -both technically and visually- the game suffers from its “rng” nature, making the whole “big gun crafting” trivial and tiresome. It should have invested more in actual gameplay with those hard-earned guns and not in the process of creating them each and every single time for every level. Τhe randomness of many gameplay elements fluctuates the derived fun.

MOTHERGUNSHIP is tons of fun to play, but it's also that kind of FPS that doesn't really evolve the more you play. The ability to create weapon cocktails is simply awesome, but the action itself is way too repetitive to let that shine.

Mothergunship deliberately uses cliches, excessive pathos and pop culture jokes. The game does not take itself seriously, and in this case it's a real problem.

Mothergunship has some interesting ideas and unique gameplay mechanics, but it doesn't deliver as enjoyable of an experience as it may seem on paper. The gunplay is lackluster, weapon crafting isn't as extensive as you might hope, and the roguelike design elements mostly work against the game.
