MX vs. ATV Unleashed Critic Reviews

A truly fantastic title. It's extremely well done and offers the best MX and ATV racing combination in town.

The best and most important change is in the driving model, which corrects the overly touchy control seen in last year's "MX Unleashed."

Essentially, with MX vs. ATV Unleashed, Rainbow has perfected everything they introduced as the pioneers of next generation off-road racing.

In addition to a stunning physics engine, MX vs. ATV has really nice graphics. Well designed courses, high detail models, and simply a great attention to a nice, clean look makes this one of the nicer realistic racing titles I've seen.

This game has a plethora of options that will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Unfortunately, the soundtrack is flatter than a bottle of Mountain Dew past its "Best By" date, but the polished gameplay makes the racing action a total gas.

While MX vs. ATV Unleashed does bear flaws that its predecessor did not, such as the long load times, superficial use of vehicles and questionable championship layout, these are outweighed by the terribly entertaining gameplay and pretty graphics that it delivers.

A damn fine game.

Lots of content and lots of things to do are always a good thing in a game, and it's definitely worth picking up as opposed to renting, mainly because you'll never get everything in the game done in a rental.

Innovation isn't really the key here. It's more expected standards for your buck.

While all the components from the franchise are here, it lacks that over-arching cohesion.

The vehicles are fairly well balanced, with bikes being able to grab more air while the ATVs have easier landings. In fact, that's the biggest issue with Unleashed: It's often difficult to judge where your bike wheels are lined up, which leads to a multitude of crashes.

I'm bummed that the game is much more menu-driven; I really am. However, it's still an amazing racing title.

There's something innately wonderful about a game that lets you take a dirt bike onto a track and perform stunts, while simultaneously trying to win a race against an ATV, a monster truck, and a golf cart.

The subtle tweaks and improvements come to a head here in an ATV AND MX game that satisfies, but doesn't offer anything new.

A ton of different play modes await too, assuring you won’t tire of the disc anytime soon.

Had the multiplayer been deeper, it would have easily been an editor's choice.

Taking equal parts of their two past franchises, they have come up with one great motocross game.

MX Vs. ATV Unleashed is immense. This game is bigger than Barry Bethel's belly before he went on the Slim Fast Plan. The list of options and challenges seems almost endless.

It’s nice to see that amongst the Gran Turismos of the world there’s still space for light-hearted and fun arcade racers. MX vs. ATV has nothing do with realism, instead it pits monster trucks, motorbikes and air planes racing against each other. This is a very finely honed and fun game, which will entertain you for a long time to come.
