A somewhat exciting and absorbing game mainly thanks to its frenetic action and huge combos. However it's only suited for fans of this genere.

OK, Ninety Nine Nights II is not the most brilliant game everybody was waiting for. Except the nice staged sword fights with all the beautiful effects and colors there isn't much in this game. The story is too simple and cannot keep up the motivation.

Overall, and with all its flaws, N3II is still worth a look for anyone who is looking for an alternative fantasy based action game... and for all the hack n' slash fans, this one's easy... pick it up!

Fans of the original will find some nice improvements, but also some sad omissions.

Not enough power-ups, too many repetitive enemies, uneven skills scale and unfair boss battles really hurt this game severely.

Three or four years ago, this game would have been brilliant. Unfortunately the unexciting combat, ho-hum level design, and unimpressive graphics make it a poor alternative to the more recent champions of the hack and slash genre.

As good as that narrative may be, it's ultimately sandwiched between repetitive, mindless combat.

The separate online co-op stages can be fun--both Maze and Survival help level up your characters--but the strange blandness of the overall proceedings keeps N3 II from appealing to anyone not mesmerized by constant slaughter.

All in all, this game has many glaring flaws, but it does a great job at when comes to the main task of "maim and destroy".

Neither good nor terrible. If you're a big fan of hack-and-slashers you can probably bump this up a couple of notches, but other than the occasional element that may briefly stand out, N3II is pretty average.

Everything in the game is sloppily executed; the plot, the visuals, the multiplayer, everything in the game feels broken in some form or another. Even if you enjoyed the first, I implore you to avoid N3II.

Decidedly average and forgettable. While you can extract some fun from taking down large swaths of enemies with a friend, the repetitive combat can't sustain the 20-plus hour campaign.

If you're looking for a mindless way to rack up Achievement Points, go ahead and rent Ninety-Nine Nights II, but be warned -- it's like watching the first 10 minutes of the Battle of Helm's Deep on repeat for 30 hours. After a while, you won't even care who's winning the fights, and only periodic bathroom breaks will break up the monotony.

Somehow better with a second overpowered character by your side.

The new visual flair and improved combat system can only hide the dreadfully tedious grind for so long. It is simple and repetitive and doesn't look or sound as nice as the best the Xbox 360 has to offer...

It's somewhat understandable that the sequel struggles to find new directions to take the game in, but failing to live up to the original? That's a real crime.

Too many enemies, too few ideas. Bad checkpoints and boredome waste an otherwise good potential.

Ninety-Nine Nights II is one of the most difficult games available, but the real challenge is putting up with this mess. Boring missions coupled with tedious combat isn't a recipe for fun. Stay away unless you're a glutton for punishment.

Ninety-Nine Nights 2 is dull, tedious, frustrating, and many other negative words.

Fans of the original Nintey-Nine Nights game will likely be much more forgiving when it comes to the sequel. The core hasn't changed much, and the online play is decent, though the lack of co-op is a disappointment. As for those who have not played the original...well, there is little reason to start now.
