Oceanhorn might be a flawed, blatant rip-off of Zelda, but it’s worth playing — especially for the originality it does introduce.

Oceanhorn is a stunningly beautiful action-adventure game that borrows some of its best ideas from Nintendo's Zelda series. However, it's so well executed that we didn't mind the homage.

Although the first step in Oceanhorn is steeped in Zelda nostalgia, every step after leads farther into a world that stands on its own two feet.

If there is only one game you buy all year than Oceanhorn should be it, especially if you love those classic Nintendo adventure games.

Even if you only get up to three iOS games a year, make sure this is one of them. There are hours upon hours of content to play, plenty of islands to explore and monsters to fight.

A long and enjoyable experience that launches a promising new series while raising the bar for 3D adventure games on iOS. It might be overly nostalgic, but Oceanhorn still provides some of the richest gaming to be found on the App Store.

Oceanhorn proves that there's still room for premium games in the tablet market. Almost AAA grade production values in an iGame are something that you don't see everyday. Sure, it's a Zelda rip-off, but this heist is done with love and respect.

The beautiful, adventurous, and lengthy Oceanhorn is a strong stand-in for The Legend of Zelda on iOS, but don't expect it to top the real deal in any respect.

Oceanhorn may not be as clever as Nintendo's series in its dungeon designs, and few games are, but the sense of exploration and discovery makes it easy to recommend on its own merits.

Though it's destined to forever squat in Zelda's shadow, Oceanhorn acquits itself on its own term as a flawed but heartfelt tribute to a beloved series.

Though not perfect, Oceanhorn delivers an impressive Zelda-like adventure that anyone can enjoy.

Oceanhorn is not quite original, but has enough character to stand alone. As a matter of fact, there aren't many games that reach this level of audio-visual fidelity. Every self respecting handheld adventure gamer should pick this up.

No matter how hard it tries Oceanhorn will never have the magic to give the very best Zeldas a run for their rupees.

Oceanhorn is a beautiful and ambitious game, but it's missing that special something to make it great.

A little more spit and polish on the mechanics, and the confidence to build a game around original ideas rather than sitting in the shadows of giants, and it could create a classic of its own. For now, this is a fine calling card.

With shallow level and game design, Oceanhorn fails to deliver an experience that can justify the premium price point.

Unfortunately, Oceanhorn is not the Zelda of smartphones, but just a sufficient adventure game, unable to grant a solid gameplay and a compelling story. It's great to look, that's for sure, but not so fun to play.
