Operation Flashpoint: Resistance Critic Reviews

Resistance is so complete that Codemasters could have easily sold it as a stand-alone sequel.

This added depth makes Resistance the new benchmark in expansion packs.

If you loved "Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis," you'll definitely enjoy this game. However, the degree of difficulty, taken with the poor save game system and non-intuitive squad command system, might make it a frustrating play for some.

Despite some real problems, Resistance offers a memorable setting and the sort of intense, intelligent challenges that can make tactical shooters so much fun.

Its full campaign, enhanced multiplayer mode and updated graphics are definite pluses, while the unconventional warfare storyline makes Resistance a unique offering.

I can personally verify that multiplayer is much much smoother than before – not that it was awful before, but I haven’t been getting as many disconnects as I did before.

For the most part, this add-on delivers on a lot of the same great gameplay features but manages not to fix some of the major problems that I had with the single player campaigns.

Despite all those flaws, Resistance's branching, 20-mission campaign dishes out some of the best gameplay scenarios yet seen in the genre.

The weak artificial intelligence is beginning to show itself, particularly with Resistance's emphasis on conserving supplies and conserving personnel.

The mission editor and multiplayer (I tried that, but it wasn't a good experience for me) are perfect additions to this extremely popular tactical game. If that kind of thing is your bag, baby, then there is no reason you shouldn't own this game by now.

It is a slightly different angle on the same thing, but it's all good fun.

Only let down by AI deficiencies and some clipping issues, it's a healthy upgrade for the strategic shooter.
