In my view there will always be room for awesome takes on traditional TD games but I hope developers take note because OTTTD proves that the genre can be improved in an awesome way while still staying true to its roots.

By mixing plenty of laughs into its RTS, RPG and tower defence hybrid of gameplay, SMG Studio has created a polished strategy gem. It’s well and truly worth its reasonable price and is only let down by some minor issues regarding framerate and player control options.

Wonderfully excessive, but not quite as clever as it thinks it is.

Smartly blending tower defence, traditional RTS, and a sense of humour, OTTTD should appeal to all strategy fans.

SMG Studio takes boring old tower defense and jazzes it up a bit with gibs aplenty and a buttload of firepower.

It's more over the top aesthetically than it is in terms of mechanics.
