Quite simply Outtrigger IS better than "Quake III Arena" and "Unreal Tournament," even if it is lacking in Internet options. If you want to look at it in percentage terms, think about it like this; Outtrigger with online play would probably get around 96%.

Running at a fast 60 frames per second, good looking special effects, and solid visuals, Outtrigger is one of the best looking first person shooters.

It's a wild romp on the net, with enough secrets to unlock to warrant many hours of replay.

The four-player split screen mode is yet another feather in the dreamcast’s cap for multiplayer games, and despite the lack of an on-line mode I’m more then happy.

Lots of hidden stuff to unlock, new levels, characters, and weapons. It is a fun, fast paced game, that is packed full of features and great online gameplay.

It's not in the same league as "Quake" or "Perfect Dark," but it doesn't try to emulate either style of gameplay provided by those two titles. Taken for what it is - an arcade-style blastfest - Outtrigger is a title that's well worth a look.

A pleasant surprise, and some may actually prefer it to the darker, more serious "Unreal Tournament" or "Quake 3 Arena."

A decent shooter and it has its merits, even on a console where new software is getting mighty scarce. However, if you were only going to own one, this probably wouldn't be it.

A fast-paced shooter from Sega that works well as an online game, but it doesn't have enough to it to outlast the likes of "Unreal Tournament" or "Quake III Arena."

Its fast and furious action is a nice distraction for the itchy trigger finger. But once that itch is scratched, there's not much action left.

The problem with the game itself is that after you have Deathmatched for hours on end in the same somewhat small sized, but well designed stages, there is not much more to do.

If you’re desperate for a shooter that’s got absolutely no value other than just plain shooting, Outtrigger fits that bill.

It's months late, and unless you have a broadband adapter there realistically isn't a reason to play this game. "Quake 3" and "UT" did it better and that's my final stance.
